Had my chance with the Audi R8
I was coming to a stop light when I saw the R8 coming up behind me fast. He sped up to cut off the car infront of him to get next to me and there it was. An older gentleman in a white R8 starts reving it a bit. MY CAR WAS GOING IN FOR THE 2000KM SERVICE IN 5 DAYS!!!!!!! F*%K!
He launchs it hard and I looked like a big chicken shit. |

Skierman64 and I saw a black R8 on Sunday in Newtown, PA. It was HOT! He was driving in the opposite direction, so we couldn't have any fun with him.

Ya...I'm still kind of disappointed. Based on figures from Road & Track 0-60 in the R8 is 4.3 and M3 si 4.1 (Coupe) It would have been a great race. I could see the cars at the intersection going perpendicular from us, watching to see us launch and I bet all of them where giving me the thumbs down after he peeled out and I took off normal.
I did rev it to 5K until 3rd gear though |

4.1 0-60 must have be an ideal launch with perfect conditions.....since my best with DCT and launch control is 4.47...but the traction wasn't that good and it was a bit hot....

keep in mind that crank HP really means nothing b/c the M3's RWD is sapping less power/torque than the R8's AWD system. at the end of the day, the M3 is making more power/torque at the wheels. just something to consider...

Based on very brief experience of the R8 and some time M3, I would reckon that though the M3 would win overall up to 150mph if the race was from a stop on a public road and only up to ... say 100mph then I think the R8 will have it in the bag.
It's awd system though better suited to enjoyable handling than the torsen quattro system, it is not as efficient at getting off the line and in a street race RS4 vs R8 from a stop I think the RS4 might just win. |
