One week and 350 miles...

I picked up my new M2C last Saturday. Alpine White, executive package, 6MT, sunroof, black 788 wheels.

So far I am loving the car. Obviously it's still in the break in period, so I've been holding back, making sure not to exceed 4500rpm, taking it easy.

A few observations. At higher speeds the suspension is quite stiff, but at low speeds, rolling over speed bumps, railroad tracks, etc. it's actually smoother than my e92 335i M-Sport.

I am loving the rev matching feature. I have never owned a car with an automatic transmission. Ever since I bought my first car at 17 (1972 VW Beetle) I've been rowing my own gears. I am 54, gonna be 55 in a couple of months. I am an experienced stick jockey, and I am very good at heel-tow technique. That being said, I can never match revs on my own as precisely and consistently as the car can. so I am not gonna resist this technology. I will embrace it.

The gear shifter does feel a little rubbery, but so did my 335i at the beginning. The throw is a little long, but can still be shifted with just wrist action. But I will have a short shifter installed soon. I have the UUC short shifter in my 335i and I love it.

Love the seats. Very comfortable and good looking. I am 6'2", 225 lbs and the seats are perfect for me. Also there is adequate head room for me, and I like to ride a little higher inside the cabin.

I really like the black 788 wheels. I think they look awesome with Alpine White color of the car.

Congrats! Beautiful ride.

Why limit yourself to 4500 rpms when the manual recommends up to 5500?

To answer your question, just in case. Staying in the safe zone for now. I'll have my car for a very long time, and I want to make sure it does well in the long run. I am already at 400+ miles, so just a couple of weeks and I'll be able to open it up all the way.

Man I barely have 650ish miles in one month, just don't have that many places to go as I live local to just about everything I need.

I agree the black 788s look a million times better in person.

Good spec with the sunroof. These noobs don't know what they're missing out on

I was, but had to wait til January 18 for PCD. I am leaving on a 3 week vacation February 2nd, and that's cutting it a little too close. Any kind of delay due to weather, work, or whatever, and I would have to pick up my car sometime in March. But without PCD, I got my car middle of December.
