Offset Rims Very Narrow?

Has anyone gained insight to why the rims have been narrowed for the offset options on the GO5 versus the F15? F15 offsets were 10" front and 11" back (11.5" with the 325's) while the G05 appears to be 9.5" front and 10" back (10.5" with the 315 on 22").

Many have commented that the look of the same 315's is anemic from the rear but I'm also seeing these standard tire/rim compatibility charts on line (all the same regardless of source) that suggest both the offset 275 and 315 are too wide for 9.5" and 10" rims respectively - especially the 315's should be on 11.5" as a minimum but probably 12" rims.

I'm no tire expert but especially on a 35 sidewall profile it doesn't even seem the rears will be making full proper road contact on a rim almost 2.5" narrower than the tread. Perhaps there is an error in the order guide and the rims are wider than shown?

FYI, the ordering guide wheel size is wrong for the 741M. They are 10.5” in the rear. Below is from a G05 with 741M wheels.

Thanks - good news but still seems unusually narrow doesn't it?

My delivery is a few weeks away but I have seen the 741's in person and they just seem so much narrower than the 315's on F15's still on the dealers lot..

I think it’s just because the G05 looks larger so the wheels/tires appear smaller. I mean 315 tires are 315mm wide no matter how you shake it, right? It’s still a lot of meat back there. We have the 741Ms on ours and they look great.

But I do agree the tires look wider on the F15.

Nothing anemic about the 315 and 275s on the 21"s

After some checking it's rather odd how they're running such wide tires on wheels that aren't up to the task. Surely the engineers at BMW wouldn't make such a simple mistake. I'm willing to be there's more to this story than what's above.

The tires appear to fit the 741M wheels perfectly. They don’t look out of place or like they barely fit.

Yeah, some tires fit the 10.5" wheel others do not from what I found. It appears that you just need to check beforehand when buying non-OEM RFTs or non-RFTs

I was wondering if somebody can take a picture of their staggered 21" or 22" tires from rear showing 315 tire width on 10.5J offset (similar angle to the ones below - not mine but it's the exact same setup I have). I absolutely love the look of 315s on my E70.

Also, I am not sure if anybody seen the new GLE 2020, it appears it’s getting staggered setup as well, not sure how wide the rears are (GLE image below). I wonder why BMW didn't keep 11J with G05 considering the vehicle has grown in dimension all around.

G05 M-sport wheels

I think the wheels/tires on the e70 M-sport from the rear look considerably more aggressive than the wheels/tires on G05 M-sport.

If you compare the width of the 20" 333M to the 22" 742M the difference is only a 0.5". I guess I can see how with the 22" wheels being obviously taller it can dilute the look of a "boxier" 20" wheel but I don't know. Those 333M wheels just looked mean.

Maybe someone with knowledge and experience in the matter could shed some light...
