Considering Nissan has sticky tires and 365 lbs weight advantage, M5 did pretty good.

The guys love to compare M5 vs super fast coupes

Quicker than 458 Italia, Aventador and on pair with AMG GTS.

Absurdly fast lap time.

Matching a NISMO 0-200 is impressive.

While I agree the Nismo tires are much better than the F90 M5's, being fair - unless the practice from Nissan has changed - they do not provide an R compound tire from the factory - even as an option - which has been one of the major complaints to Nissan (and the lack of carbon ceramic brake option). The Dunlop NR1's are 200 treadwear. That said - again - you are right that they are still quite an advantage over the PS4's lol (320 treadwear - and an all round tire).

It is. Stock GTR's are pretty poopy in the mid-end as they start to get into the top end. The NISMO's turbos are bigger than stock - and I think that helps here. I would expect any F90 M5 to beat any regular R35 GTR to 200 in most cases (although it will be fairly close) - and really pull on it as the speeds get into the top end.

Vtk, the M5 was not running on Michelins but PZeros, which are 220 treadwear.

Also, stock M5s that come with Michelins do not come with the ps4 but the ps4s. The pilot sport 4 is a different tire than the 4S->

I actually meant the PS4S - I had them on my M550ix before the M5CP - but you are correct - I quoted the treadwear for the PS4 which I didn't even know existed lol. Still at 300 tread wear though. I must also admit - I did not know the Pzeros are 220? Actually makes me like my - what I thought was unlucky - "gift" of PZero's on my car. That said - tread wear ratings are tricky these days. The original Cup 1's were - I believe 60 tread wear - and the PS2's are 180 - but they are just as soft. My understanding is that the ratings combine different compound ratings within the same tire and perhaps average them out...I don't know.

Great comparison.
The next M4 with AWD should be pretty fast in all weather conditions. I hope they will keep the weight at the same level with the current RWD model 😏

Actually the 2013 gtr is faster in a straight line than the nismo. Every year 2015 and after they made the gtr slower/heavier. The nismo with the added aero is slower top end. There are completely stock 2013 gtrs 10.7 @ 127.

The stock tires are terrible also (run flats). Either way bravo to bmw for creating such a monster of a car.

2015 nismo >> 2017 nismo

While I agree with you - as Mizuno-San left after 2014 - that the new "engineer" was tasked with softening the GTR, and the 2015+ cars are all slower compared to the 2013's and 2014's (the best years for an R35 GTR) - the initial (I believe 10.84 that was run by a 2013 owner) was on an old tune from Nissan which was change since. The 2013's and 14's are now in the 11.0 to maybe a high high 10 on fantastic DA/air. MPH really hasn't changed either - about 124-125 MPH on average - so I will still go with the F90 M5 if I were betting stock versus stock at the track or on the street. R35's suffer from poor mid-top end - and with the launch being quite good with the F90 - I can't see the GTR coming around as the F90 is averaging 126+ MPH.
Mizuno was still around in a consulting role for the first NISMO - which was based off the 13-14 cars anyway - but I agree anything after that is poop.

Seats and other parts alike should have been removed from this M5 to reduce the weight to the same level of the GTR

I'm actually surprised 2017 Nismo keeps up with the F90.

GTR has been a 125mph car for like what, 10 years. It's sad to see the old champion struggling like this to compete with the chunky performance sedan even just in the straight line.

Here's hoping Nissan can set the bar even higher with the R36. Why you ask? Because it will continue to push other performance cars forward.

Correct - the R35 was introduced in 2007. It is very long in the tooth now.

Well said! This is the absolute axiom of a car enthusiast! All progress is welcome - there are no favourites...because we the car community get better cars when EVERYONE is competing!
