upper and lower downpipes

Hi guys and girls

I am not too familiar with the technical side of things when it comes to cars, but what are the differences between the upper and lower downpipes. perhaps the experts and the suppliers in this forum can shed some light.

I have a M2 with a sports cat and a Remus cat back exhaust. The morning cold starts are just brutal and just outright annoying.
If I were to install a cat back Remus on the M5, without modifying the upper and lower downpipes will it still make a noticeable change in the exhaust note ? furthermore, which one would I need to change to enhance the exhaust without being the most hated person in my block

thanks in advance

One option for you is the OEM MSport Competition exhaust. Vids here :

As a manufacturer of downpipes I can only comment that both upper and lower downpipes will not only significantly change exhaust note to be very aggressive, but not overwhelming, and without any of the annoying drone as with some of the after markets exhaust systems, it will also add power by eliminating back pressure. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Will downpipes and stock exhaust bring exhaust fumes into the car cabin? Noticeable exhaust fumes?

Just duck down when you stop with someone else have open window.
They will either stare at you or roll up their window or looking around trying to figure out where the smell is from.

I heard a car with Eisenmann downpipes and M-Sport Exhaust.
The car is noticeably louder and throatier. Cannot comment on more cracks and burbles.

No noticeable smell either and I was inside an enclosed garage.

Our cars are not quiet in stock form....just not audible from inside the cabin.

One more thing...the owner stated that the downpipes did not throw a CEL. Have not confirmed this myself.

Even if you just do the secondary cat delete pipes and not the primary's?

Secondary won't throw CEL. No sensors monitoring the secondary.

What if I decide to go with the m sport midpipe that's offered with the competition. What's your input on that setup?

It will help both sound and exhaust flow.
But won't be as drastic as secondary delete.

So with my full catback exhaust (Remus) which you have heard in person; will a secondary removal create even more sound? And do I want this LOL?

Yes, more roar.
It is up to you. If you like more roar, then go for it.
If you think that is sufficient, maybe not.
I personally would go for it.
