I am not exactly sure what you mean, but when I removed my left rear wheel, there were 2 wheel sensors on the inside of the fender that apparently measure the speed that the wheel rotates. There would be sensors on each wheel. They don't actually measure pressure, but instead measure the speed the tire rotates in relation to the others.

Rachel, no E90's don't have a TPMS (tire pressure monitor sensor) monitor like Nissans. johnfkitchen's link should answer your question as to how tire pressure is monitored.

For those that are curious what the Nissans have, they actually have a sensor module that attaches to each wheel's valve stems on the inside that monitors the tire pressure.

don't they just use the ABS sensors do detect wheels rotating at different speeds, not tire pressure at all

So the good news is that you can use whatever wheels you want (within the proper size range, of course).

Post up some pictures when you get them!

My C5 had senders in the wheels, and I loved the convenience of measuring actual tire pressures in PSI by pressing a button in the comfort of my driver's seat. Especially in winter. I'll miss that.
