So I was driving home and took a pull about half throttle and my car just started to make a whistling noise. Which sounded pretty cool but I was thought it was oil timing chain. So I got it towed to my dealership and after a day of waiting they told my I blew my turbo. I tuned my car to stage 1 93 from bootmod3 and also have a circuit werks catless downpipe. I'm so confused on why my turbo Suddenly decide to blow.

Damn dude. Sorry to hear... what year, how many miles?
Keep us posted on outcome at dealer. Any thoughts about going aftermarket at this point? If your dealer is cool... they will install new turbo regardless for labor revenue. An aftermarket turbo may only be slightly more or even less expensive than OEM. This is my plan if my stock turbo fails. |

Depends on how you drive it and if your car is tuned or not etc. Being stage 2 for the last 3000 miles, and stage 1 for 8000 before that, I'd be surprised if mine lasts till 100k (currently at 71k). Certain cars' turbos can last for the life of the car, but this turbo is so small, generates so much boost (relative to it's size) and works so hard that it's almost inevitable that it will wear out. I'm sure you could nurse it to 150k+, but if you drive with any amount of aggression, and especially if your car is tuned, don't expect it to last forever.

It's not hard to rebuild this turbo. You could even rebuild it with a stage 2 kit from Mamba. they have the right rotation units with upgraded thrust bearings which are bigger and have additional oil galleries.
That is assuming the turbine and compressor didn't get damaged in the process. If they did then you would need to inspect the housings before rebuilding with new turbine and comp wheels. You could also just buy a turbo assembly off eBay. This is assuming they void your warranty and you want to avoid a big bill from your dealer. |

My guess is the DV broke and pieces of it flew inside the turbo

My turbo started to go around 80k I believe. I had the Dinan Sport+ for maybe 5-10k miles after I got the car and stage 2 for about 10k after that before it started to go.
