Dyno run in the M4- 477bhp apparently!

Down at Surrey rolling road this morning with MarkG_M3CP to see what the car was doing with and without the TDI tuning box.

The run with the box on was "only" 494bhp, less than Mark's car did with the same box on.

Without the box connected though it showed a hefty 477.8bhp! So that's about 30bhp more than standard, with peak torque around 465lb/ft.

Charlie has had other M4 CPs do around 475 so not entirely unheard of, and the range is 445 to 475. Mark's as standard did 445 as standard, and bang on 460 today with the CS map.

We're not really sure what to make of it to be honest, and my first thought was whether a tuning box can have some kind of residual effect after it's been disconnected?

Generally post tuning box they take a while to get back to normal. They often run worse for a while.

So how does that work then? I wondered if this is what's happening, but if it's no longer providing the changed readings to the ECU then how can it be influencing the output?

Yeah the car learns parameters over time.
DMS (or dervtech) made some post about it on Facebook about certain cars giving different values shortly after having the tuning box taken off

Indeed. This is one of the 'finger prints' BMW look for when your car throws a rod and you think the warranty will pick up the bill.
Who gives a monkies, chances are low and smiles per mile more than make it worth while.

Very impressive and the 4 must fly!

Good day actually, my results always seem to make decent sense so I'm perplexed by Tengocity's result today.

Charlie was suggesting fuelling on mine was bang on too while the M4 was being held up at the time end (with the box).

I use V-Power Ultimate or what ever it's called and Tesco 99, Tengo used standard BP.

Views?
