Normalizing audio

Is there a way to normalize audio coming from the ipod? Some of my MP3s are set at different volumes and would like not blowing out my ears when certain songs come up. Didn't see an option to do it on the ipod itself. Is there something in iDrive?

The feature on the iPod and in iTunes you are looking for is called Sound Check

While the Sound Check feature in the iPod lowers the volume of all the songs to the same level, the program MP3Gain can be used by the user to specifically set all non-protected MP3 songs to the same volume level in dB without clipping: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

Soundcheck on the iPod did not work. Guess I'll have to adjust each mp3 and reload them on the ipod
