Carid not again...

Once again it happens. This time i ordered a caliper replacement, got to the mechanic and we tried to put it on, powerstop extreme brake pad didn’t fit the Raybesto caliper replacement. What a headache, I really don’t get why they would say it will fit my car clearly it didn’t. So let’s recap, first Bmw oem msport caliper won’t fit after replacing it with the new powerstop brake kit. Second order after a week later, this time powerstop extreme pad won’t fit on the Raybestos caliper......Carid is a freaking headache....34 years in my life never ever i had encounter an issue twice, like literally not joking at all, so should i keep ordering at there site?? Probably not at all....
To make matter worse they trying to charge me shipping when i return the item, there mistake, should have been complimentary return label....

Can you post a picture of your current brake caliper and what you are trying to accomplish?

Are you just trying to replace brake pads (like your first order) or are you trying to buy new calipers for an upgraded braking set up (second order)?

Also just for FYI, there are 3 variants of brake set up that came with OEM. So it is hard to understand from your post. Maybe even link the items that you bought from carid.

You need to be able to do your due diligence when it comes to ordering parts from different vendors like carid and the like. And it doesnt hurt to ask people on the forum here for help before hand to help ensure you bought the right part

I've noticed their catalog is a bit off. For example, I ordered some coil over for my 2013 f30. Their website say it fits. After ordering it, I did some more googling and noticed right on their manufacture site, it does not list my car as one of the models that will work. Called the manufacture directly and said it does not work with xdrives. I contacted carID and canceled my order.

I also noticed that I would have to put 2014 year and not 2013 as some items would pull up e90's and not f30's. So lesson (for me) for this site or even any other site, do you research.

I'm guessing the moral of your story is quit buying parts from CarID, & buy from vendor more knowledgeable about mechanical parts instead of a clearing house style vendor

Sorry for the dellaywd response. But yes, that’s the moral of this message. Learned my lesson, dont want anyone else who owns a BMW F30 to go to the same issue, which by the way cost $$....

What bothers me is how confident they are when it comes to inquiring items. They would say “yes it fit your car”, where it really dont.

Hey buddy, thanks for the response. In the beginning i want to change the front brake, but i wanted the slotted version not the flat, i did my research on the diameter of the F30 Msport used. After two weeks research i look around online where to purchased one, one of the place i really got attracted on was the Carid. Talk to them gave me all the info, they said yes this brake is the right one and it will fit the F30, so i said sure. Got the packaged, went to the mechanic, took off both wheels, then next thing you know the rotors was way to big for the oem msport calipers that came with 2013 F30. So i ask for suggestion from the mechanic, he said “dude you need new calipers for this”....

Called Carid, inquired some information on which calipers fit Powerstop street warrior Z26, they recommended the Raybesto calipers, got the calipers, went to he mechanic did the same thing. This time the issue is different, the pads that came with the Powerstop is way to big for the Raybesto Caliper.

So, let’s recap. 2 weeks waiting, none of the products fit for the 2013 BMW F30, except the pads. Cost money and time to do everything. I was more concerned about time. I work 5 days a week sometimes 6, where my day off which is Sunday, and most mechanic are close Sunday.

The research i have found that fit 2013 BMW F30 is 370mm x 30 for the m-sport packaged. I even called the BMW dealership they said that’s the correct one. So not sure why this issue is not relevant for anyone who is upgrading there brakes.....

I will be posting some pictures soon. Just so busy at work....again thanks for the response

I don't know exactly what model car you have,?

But for 2013 F30 328i the front rotors are:
  • Base: 312x24mm
  • With M Sports Package (Option code P337A): 330x24mm
  • With M Sports Brakes (Option code S2NHA): 340x30mm
  • With M Sports Pkg & M Sports Brakes (Option codes S2NHA/P337A: 340x30mm

People always get the 'M Sport Package' & 'M Sport Brakes' confused

Now if you have 335i then the front rotors are:
  • Base: 340x30mm
  • With M Sports Brakes (Option code S2NHA): 370x30mm

> To be certain do a VIN Decode on your car & check for the Option Codes listed above (either P337A or S2NHA) that way you will be certain of the size.

To many people refer to BMW brakes as different names & think they are interchangeable - they're not...

I've heard M Sports Brakes, M Pkg Brakes, M Performance Brakes, etc.

My 2015 F32 MSport 435 came with the 340x30mm front rotors/Gray Brembo 4-piston calipers - I have since replaced them with M4 Blue Brembo 4-piston calipers & 370x30mm rotors

So when you say sport calipers, are your calipers grey in color or color (blue, yellow or red)?

I dont know if I would trust the raybesto calipers but I currently suspect (and I could be very wrong). . . but it sounds like you have the grey calipers. those require 340mm front rotor. When you bought the rotors the first time, you probably got the 370 mm front rotor meant for the m performance brakes (colored ones). I don't know how raybesto calipers match up to the ones BMW makes.

well I couldn't see from the photos. but if you have the grey caliper, you def have the 340mm rotor. that's why it didnt fit from the get go.

M sport brakes do not come in 370mm. That is M performance which is not the same.
