Resetting only mileage for oil change interval

I took my car in for service about 2 months ago. And now my car is telling me my oil change is due again in 500 miles or AUG 2019..? As far as I can tell they messed up and set the oil change to 1,000 instead of 10,000 miles but updated the year correctly. I can take it back to the dealer but the nearest is a 2 hour drive each way.... is there anyway to reset the mileage to read the correct service interval along with the date? I have seen the reset oil change posts and videos but they appear to reset the year and mileage together. I have BimmerCode as well if it requires coding. Trying to avoid the 4 hour trip for a stupid oil light reset.

This does not answer your question, so apologies up front.
But, I wanted to respond because this happened to me the other day. I got my car back from the dealer after my 20K mi. scheduled service (at ~18K) and the date was reset, but not the miles.
I brought it back (2+ hour round trip), they reset it again and it was fine. They said they had never seen one reset w/o the other. So I thought mine was a freak.
It's interesting to see that I'm not the only one that this happened to.

It's very odd considering all of the videos I have seen show the reset generically resetting the date by 1 year and the miles by the normal interval value from current. Mine went up by 1,000 instead of 10,000 and yours didn't change at all? They must be using a different method of reset or entry of next due parameters. Reading through the forums it's not uncommon for them to forget to reset it at all, "you had one job"... is all that comes to mind.

Thanks for the reply, however I am trying to reconfigure the mileage. For what ever reason the reset just bumps it to say 1000 miles til due again...?

Yes I did it twice today after driving a bit. I called the dealer and they said they can fix it, but it's a 2 hour drive each way.. I guess I'll just keep resetting it until I'm in the area again. At least they also left me a window sticker with the correct date and mileage on it

I had my car hooked up to a Snap-On diagnostics tool and set mine to 8000 miles for oil changes instead of the 15,000 that it was set at.

Do you have a model number for the Snap-On tool, or a name for it?

Any of the major tablet/dongle based professional scan devices should be able to use this feature. I found a local car enthusiast who was willing to let me use it for free. I was on one of the local Facebook groups and posted asking the question. Most of the off-the-shelf versions available to normal consumers will not be able to access this feature. That's probably a byproduct of the high cost of the tool ($8000) in this case.
