Smile 20 inches for X5

Is 20” too small for this generation? I ordered my 50i with 20” M sport wheels, but I’m not sure if I should get a set of 21”. I live in Chicago btw.

Run flats are not an option for me and they're currently no alternatives.
I think 20s will look fine with the right design. Personally I think the OEM 20s are too busy for the G05 design.
Thank you! But I’m not sure about what you mean that it’s too busy for G05, sorry. I don’t know that much about the run flat tire either. I chose 20 with all season tires mainly because I live in a very cold place.

From all pics it appears 20 on g05 is similar to 19 on f15.

I have scratched up 21 on f15 and wished I got 20s so getting 21 on g05.

If you want the equivalent of 20 in f15 u need to get 21.

I’ve seen others say that but I don’t get it. The 20 on the G05 I’ve ordered wlll actually stand almost an inch taller than the 20 on my F15 because of the higher sidewall. 45 instead of 40. And the new X5 isn’t THAT much bigger than the old one, so what am I missing? Of course that’s tire, not wheel, but Pics of the new Msport model with the 20s look just fine to me.

If it looks fine to you, and let's at least agree wheel sizes are mostly about looks then get the smaller one. To me and quite a few others here 20s don't look aggressive/sporty enough on g05 just like 19s didn't on f15.

Add to that, a big part of what makes it looks sporty and aggressions is the rear tire width when looking from the rear and the g05 has narrower tires than f15 (I don't know why).

A big problem is that I live in Chicago, so I can’t use summer tires for winters (because it gets really cold...), and I’m a student, so I mainly use it just for school. I do like the looking of 21s, but the dealership recommended 20s. Idk if it’s necessary to get aftermarket 21s for best performance. Is there a big difference?

Big difference in looks but for you big difference in cost and limitations for winter tires if u get 21. You could get 21s with the car and a full set of winters with aftermarket 20s for the cost of changing the 21 tires. Assuming u have a place to store a full set of tires. You have a good set of summer and winter.

I thought you guys were just assuming that since none of you had actually seen a G05 in person. Those who now have seem to think it doesn’t look much if any bigger than the F15, so that’s why I don’t understand the logic that 20s look fine on one but not the other. Anyway, to each his own.

Personally, I really like the standard 20 M Sport wheels which minds me of the 21" Individual 726 wheels available on the X3.

If you're going for the "stance look" - upgrade but there's nothing wrong with the stock 20" wheels especially if you want all-season tires.

Not everyone has the storage space or wants to swap out tires or wheel sets for the winter. In the end you're driving it.

I agree with your comment 100%. I am in the snow belt and have no space/no interest in swapping tires. Too lazy.

Here's a fine looking G05 50i M Sport with 20s:

Thanks for your sharing and the pics! I realized that changing performance tires would also be a big expense on 21s and 22s, plus driving in snow with those tires could be dangerous. I probably will stay with 20s since they look good to me. I'm surprised that they look actually bigger.
