You mean the M Performance Power Sound Kit? The M Sport doesn't have a unique exhaust and certainly doesn't have anywhere near that much pop and burble stock. I don't believe even the MPPSK models have that much burble.

Though I do agree that other than the burbles, that exhaust sounds like any I6 F30.

In Canada you either have the regular quiet BMW exhaust or the M sport exhaust that you can open or close the valve. it sounds just like the exhaust you have in the video.

My X3 M40i also sounds like this in Sports Plus mode. The engine idles quite loudly when cold regardless of the drive mode; the down side is that you can't sneak out of the house without everyone in the house hearing the car, lol. M340 is tuned even more aggressively (382 vs 355 hp) so I would expect it to sound every bit as good, if not better!

Ah OK, I was actually wondering if Canada had different exhausts. In the U.S., all N55 and B58 cars receive the same exhaust. I believe all F30s in America have a valve in the exhaust.

In Canada the b58 m power and sound kit comes as Part of an m performance package customers can order hence the semantic differences that cause confusion. In the US it is not bundled and must be ordered a la carte port installed. The valving and exhaust design is significantly different on the power kit upgrade (if you want details head over to the f30 b58 mods section). Right now the x3/x4 m40i has just about the same motor as the current b58 power kit at 355 hp, The m340 is another upgrade above the current gen motor at 382 hp so I expect the same sound or better!

Edit: I thought it was also the ECU injecting unburnt fuel and retarding timing. It's definitely controllable depending on what mode you're in.

No difference is sound which is good.

JB4 on top of the MPPSK makes it sound even better
