CDRW won't play on my CD player E90 325i
My 325i SE will not play CD RW. Will I have to buy a new head unit should I want to hear music I've burned on to a CD-RW?? Or am I missing something??

dude don't buy another head unit just cuz it doesn't play cdrw's. you can try finalizing the rw, or just use cd-r's

In Nero 8, I burn indash discs (CD-R/CD-RW) as ISO 9660:1999, while discs that go into the CD changer are burned as 9660 + Joliet. The latter will read in both, but the indash can support the former with longer displayable filenames so I figured why not.

is there a strong reason to use CD-RW's when CD-R's are so cheap ? CD-RW's use a different dye technology that are intrinsically more difficult to read and create more compatibility problems.

I revise the content of my CD's quite regularly, 7 of them between the indash and cd changer. To me it's just more convenient to be able to wipe a disc and replace it with new stuff whenever I feel like, even if only to swap a single song. I used to go the cheap CD-R approach but it seemed like such a waste despite the dirt-cheap price. Plus I've never ever had problems burning Philips CD-RWs at 10x for use in the car.

I normally use CDR's but I'm starting to use RW's now because I change music so often and I hate having a bunch of disks in the car. |
