sliding cargo cover is an option

I didnt know the sliding cargo cover that is displayed on most videos is and option. I was assuming it was just a standard feature for the new model.
Its 418 lugage compartment option at $400 something and will be available later December. The car i have ordered for the extended driving pro package is a december build and does have the extended driving but the 418 option is apparently not on the dealer order site yet.
I hope folks who ordered there new car know they are not getting the automatic cargo cover.

What dealer did you order from? I'm also in the Puget Sound area and my dealer WAS able to add the luggage package onto my build. It's basically not going to happen until December and they'll know more about it once the date gets closer.

However, in the end, I decided to take that luggage option out and added the 3 row + air suspension instead.

Do you honestly think they're passing the savings onto us? Hint: they're not. I think everybody has had to use it at least once or twice when they've parked in a not-so-nice area with boxes of goodies in the cargo area.

I find the cover useless and I just took the damn thing off and put in storage on f15. I don't need a fancy motor to remove it. I would rather have the extra storage underneath.

A friend of mine with f15 lost his cos he took it out on a street to load something and forgot and left it there.

Just to clarify, the option is for the automatic cargo cover. The car comes with a manual one standard.

So it retracts into the space under the rear cargo floor - the space where a spare tire would be - or does it retract into a space above the floor reducing the distance from tailgate to back of rear seats?

The problem with F15's is the top hatch door is automatic open but not the bottom - so if using the cargo cover it's always in the way. But the G05 has the option for automatic lower hatch automatic open making it easy to slide articles under the cargo cover without having to retract it. I have reconsidered and am going to not order418.

Personally I would definitely get the power cargo cover. I live in Manhattan so I always use the cargo cover when parking on the Street. OTOH If I need to fold the seats down, the manual cover is a PITA. I typically have to take it up to my apartment which is sometimes a couple of blocks away.

Is rattling confirmed? That would be a reason to exclude that option.

I wonder if you can have an all weather cargo tray with the automatic cover.

Maybe cos I just don't see a point of the flappy cover (powered or not) or maybe cos I need every bit of space I can get but it really seems like the most useless of all options.

On every suv we have had we use the cover to conceal valuables but then frequently need to drop the rear seats and then screw around getting the cross bar off and stored so it does have value to some.

We have removed the cargo cover on every SUV we have bought/leased. It just gets in the way if you need to flip one or both seats down. Store it in garage or basement.

We also don't park in areas where we are worried about our cars getting broken into.

Will the cover be able to be easily removed on the G05?

Yeah, is the rattle a real issue?

I personally think this feature is super helpful.

1. Prevents the goods in the trunk from reflecting in the rear window (driver visibility)
2. Prevents anyone from seeing what's the trunk
3. Adds another layer of protection from the sun (Miami).

And there are plenty of times where I wanted to remove it in my 2016 and it's a hassle, so the idea of having it when you need it and pushing a button to make it go away is very appealing to me.

*update: just ordered a 40i - M package and I was told the magic cargo cover is "delayed indefinitely", so it appears as though I have no choice.
