Painting Chrome tips q's
I have some chrome tips that I put on with my muffler delete and unfortunatly when i ordered them i didn't see they were chrome. They've looked ok since I got them on but with the large amount of rain that has fallen here in the last month... I'm starting to see it rust (mostly inside the tips). I was wondering if anyone has painted something like this and what I would need to do/need to use to get up to be black (what kind of things do i need to do to prep the chrome to be painted and what kind of paint i should be using). I've heard of ceramic paint that is heat resistant... is that what i'd be looking for?
thanks |

I read somwhere on here that someone used engine heat paint or something like that, he just sprayed it on without preping the tips, and said it came out very good. it lol ill try to find the link and post it up.

yeah i remember seeing that too but i couldn't find it again when i searched.
guy at the shop my car is at right now said i could do it pretty easy by scratching it all up and painting with that high heat paint but i should expect it to wear off about every 3-6 months |

I sprayed my "chrome tips" with high temp matte black paint. Only slight prepping involved...just sanded down the tips a bit and sprayed them. Looks great with the M-tech rear bumper...I dont think theres any chrome on my car anymore!
