Why no dual Exhaust??

Why does the E90 not come with a dual exhaust? The X5 has it and today I saw a Hyundai Sonata with duals. What was BMW thinking here???
I think it would make the back of the car look really cool.

The E90 doesn't need dual exhaust; it is a characteristic BMW only assigns to its M cars

E92 will most likely have dual exhaust. So it's not only for M-cars. Also, current 6 series has dual exhaust as well.

BMW Wants you to spend big money first before you get the dual exhaust setup. Other car companies are more considerate.

No I think it's just the dual exhaust, aka on current projected E92 coupe...quad exhaust is reserved for the M cars.

I agree that a split exhaust is better than the straight setup (--o-------o--) over (--oo-----------) just like the G35.

EDIT: just like Lucid said above - it's just for looks.

The Z06 has ---oo-oo--- and I've seen ----oooo---- on a high-end sports car. (Can't recall exactly what just now, though).

I vote for -o---o---o---o-

I vote for: ---o---oo---o--- <-- Is that hot or what?!?

I'd settle for a decent limited slip in lieu of the dual exhaust any day.
