BMW (N55) Engine Analyzer Recommendations?
I'm looking for a BMW specific engine analyzer for my N55 engine so I can easily plug in to see and clear error codes and reset Check Engine Lights, and anything else that I might not know that would be useful. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone have experience with Carly on their BMW? I like the idea of easy to use phone app, being able to easily upgrade software on my phone and no cables to deal with. Any comments are appreciated.

Carly is ok, but just be ready to be nickled and dimed over each feature. I think it's subscription now.
You can get a KD CAN USB cable or ENET (better if you have a laptop with ethernet) and get a copy of ISTA+ and ESYS. Last edited by zinner; 09-09-2018 at 12:06 PM.. |

Other than the updated one with different buttons Isn't this Foxwell the only one which is BMW specific?

Yes, the software costs $60 which is renewable every year. The cost is steep. I'd be okay with $60 up front and $20 a year after that. I'm really looking at it as $60 to try it for a year. See if the features are worth it and if they do upgrades and enhancements to improve it or not over that time. Since it is on my phone I am more likely to use it more & more likely that the user interface will be easier to navigate, than a typical analyzer that I have to pull out, plug in and navigate a more cryptic interface that I don't use every day. Just my thought process at the moment.

I use the BimmerLink iOS app and a Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth OBD adapter. It is capable of reading BMW specific codes, not just the generic OBD codes like some of the apps. Once you buy the app you get all features unlike iCarly.
The same developer also makes an app called BimmerCode where you can use preset codings (things like digital speed on dash and fold mirrors when locking) as well as change specific variables yourself. I used the advanced features to code the car to work with the bigger screen when I upgraded to the nav sized screen. |
