What's taking Dinan so long???

The e90 has been around for a while now, and Dinan is still only offering camber plates, brakes, and wheels. I would hardly call these substantial model-specific upgrades considering the amount of time the e90 has been available. Are the engine management, intake, and exhaust systems really that unimprovable, or I am just extremely impatient? How much more development time do they need? You would think that with the advent of the new models being released (328, 335, etc.) there would be at least an exhaust system or chip available at this point. What does everyone else think?

Personally I think you are being impatient. Especially with the software. I would be surprised if any worthwhile software was out for the E90 by the 1st of January 2007 IMHO. Given the size of the aftermarket for these types of items I think its understandable for a company to take their time and get it right on the first go around.

I vote for: extremely impatient.

Dinan and everyone else will have more stuff for the e90 by next year, I think.

Yeah, Dinan is probably just calculating how much to overcharge, I'm sure they already have all of those produced.

It doesnt matter you wont buy one unless the heat shield is made of Low carbon steel and the intake is made from High C Oranges

It takes time to reserach and develop a product which will fit within Dinan's specifications.

BMWNA already has a "STRUT" brace available. My dealership showed it to me on Wed (3/15). Cost $300 msrp. Also looks like an easy DIY.
Dinan's, when it is available, will be at least $500. (have to pay for the "BLING,BLING" carbon fiber Dinan logo insert on the brace!!)

Dinan's might also be solid, whereas BMW'S strut braces are usually hollow.

Dinan's just working on M3 projects. I don't think they're bothering too much with 325's and 330's

Dinans are a solid piece of brushed aluminum. The BMW one is solid alloy. The functionality is the same. With the Dinan you pay for the looks.

I would think the complete opposite. I think that there would be many more people interested in modding there 330 and 325 than the owners of the factory fast M3.

That's what I kept saying to myself too but as many members here keep pointing out. There probably isn't too much more to squeeze out of these N52 engines.

I hope every body is wrong about that b/c right now, I'm not really satisfied with this power.

I want more more and more power!!!

I was actually thinking about trading in my E90 for a new E46 M3.

I would agree...not much you can do to increase the 0-60 time of an M3 compared to a 325 or 330.

Dinan has a larger market if they sell products which cover the 325,330, and M3 so I'm sure from a business prospective they would proceed down that avenue.

amongst other modders there is company called powerchip with offices in the US.

they may not have the wide variety of upgrades like dinan, but they too do not have anything for the e90s as yet.

in fact they are focussing on the M5.

i am happy with my 325 and i will not upgade it unlike what i did with my old e36 and e46.

Maybe they are waiting for the N54 Engine and the upcoming 335 coupe?

having personally toured dinan's facility in morgan hill, ca, during their 25th anniversary, i can tell you dinan puts a lot of r&d time into the development of products. the tour was given by steve dinan himself. pretty cool stuff.
