Any significance in having the first production car?

Hello All,
It was discussed earlier in another thread that it appears I may have the first production M2C. My vin ends in 08907 ( produced on 6/21) and vin 08906 was a press vehicle produced about a month earlier.

Does it make the car more valuable or any more significant? It’s not like it’s a completely new BMW model it is essentially a refresh of an already great car. I bought the car to be a daily driver, I didn’t buy it to because it was #1 or special. I just bought it because I really wanted an M2c. I just want to know if I should be treating the car any differently or just not worry about it at all. It’s not like the cars are limited or numbered.

I reached out to BMW to see if they could confirm it was the first production car produced, it would be cool to have it in like writing from them.

Get all the documentation that you can. It might be a selling point some day

If it was the last one...

First ones always have some kind of problems adjusted a couple of weeks later. Guinea pigs aleays worth less than other species

Besides, press cars often get sold, meaning it will be hard to sell your story.

Congrats, it is actually the first production M2 Competition for the US/Canadian market. As for the significance, I really don't know. May I suggest you to add your car to the bmwmregistry.com? I think it would be cool to have the actual first production car in there.

I’ll check out the registry, this is the first I’ve heard of it.

To a dealer? Absolutely not.

Private seller? id doubt it too, as others have stated last run maybe but earlier runs tend to have more issues.

Just enjoy the car!

I doubt that it will add any value in the next 20 years but perhaps in 30 it would. I would not let it impact how I drove the car in anyway. Enjoy them today and worry about resale later.

Well if you hold onto the car for at least 20 years you might find out if it matters or not.

In this particular case, I'm pretty confident it's a fun fact - a pretty good one! - but nothing more. I wouldn't let that fun fact change the way I use the car in any way if I were you - enjoy it as you would have otherwise.

Garage List
...so its the car franz and heinz where asking each other which direction part xy should be mounted...

(Or if they should not ask at all and just use the old part....)

Sorry, i'm just joking. Thanks god this is BMW and not Tesla. At Tesla compared to audi, bmw, mercedes, et al you actually see thousands of people in the factory doing exactly that. Its pure chaos....

In a german plant most is completely automated and there are wide parts in factories robots is all you can see, no humans at all...

I'm pretty happy to know at least 512 cars are certainly built before mine so franz and heinz now definitely know which direction to mount the part...

Earlier in-service date = earlier warranty expiry date for the given model year. For me, given a private sale, it'd be a deterrent. For dealer on trade-in, likely very similar perspective.

On the plus side, you're getting good attention here due to it being the first. Enjoy it!

In this day and age I would not say the last model is best.

Look at the emission standards, they are getting more strict as time goes on which means more complicated emission reduction systems on the engine. This is force auto manufactures to go to full EV in the future.

Lets look what recently happened.

European 2018 s55 = no gas particle
European 2019 s55 = has gas particle filter, new noise decibel levels, etc.

Is the newer European 2019 s55 vehicle more valuable? To me not at all.

Better to get the car NOW and not wait IMO. Times are changing.
