Video: DragTimes - P100D Teslas Vs. F90 M5 CP
Tesla Model S and X P100D Ludicrous vs 617HP 2018 BMW M5 1/4 Mile Drag Racing with VBOX Data
Enjoy! EDIT: Upon further inspection, now I'm wondering if it's truly a CP car. Doesn't have the CP wheels, which is not that unusual. However, it also doesn't have the CP badge. Would he have really gone through the trouble of debagging just to put the "regular" chrome M5 badge back on it? This is a regular M5 with M-Performance parts and this guy (owner) is full of shit... It's not a Competition. If he's on stock tune, which is what it looks like, he's only making 592hp.
Also, I blame the ZF8 for being so slow.

The important thing here is though 123 Trap speed vs 118 trap speed(tesla).
Means after the 1/4 mile at 1/2 mile the M5 would be bus lengths ahead. So real world the M5 still kills it IMO. |

P100D is gonna to win pretty much all the time. One would need a perfect launch to have a chance but the Tesla is such a brainless car to drive, so easy to launch. It's okay, on the highway though, we all know it will be a different story, Tesla can't roll.

They get the jump on the highway too, unless you can build boost lol. Nevertheless they are toast shortly after agreed.

Blah. Not everyone can drive. These slips are from an owner - non-CP M5 - and he is 11.0/10.99 at 126 MPH - so I think it's just a driver mod thing.
This is why I am hurrying to the track after my break in tune this coming Wednesday lol... |

so many fanboys here... remember that each car has different performance because of the: equipment, weather, temperature, altitude, humidity, wind speed and direction, etc. Race result with Tesla as expected. M5 is faster above 200km/h, even 100-200 will be similar for M5 and S P100D ~7.9s...

Yes , someone always takes the best time giving the impression that all f90 m5s run it. The fact is, most run mid 11s with traps below 125mph, a far cry from the C&D time of 10.9@129mph...

How often in the “real world” are we driving at speeds in excess of 120mph? The Tesla is a one trick pony and it barely beats a $35k cheaper car even though it has 900ft/lbs of torque!

In all those races that the M5 lost, everyone likes to bring up the driver factor, how they couldn't properly launch the car, well that's precisely the problem isn't it? Yes Tesla is a one trick pony but it does that trick pretty well and is idiot proof. For me though, I still prefer to compare the M5 within the segment of ICEs. The characteristics of electric cars and ICEs are quite different. |

Point is having a trap speed of 125 vs 118 essentially means after the 1/4 mile the tesla will be watching the tail lights of the BMW thus is it faster. The tesla is quicker but not overall faster, that is the difference. |
