Just wondering, is the port inside the console also USB-C? Last edited by bimmerdriver2; 08-08-2018 at 08:58 PM.. |

All NBT-Evo II iDrive units are capable of at least 3-USB ports since MY2017 in the USA. What is required in an OEM USB hub(s) as the unit itself already comes with 2 USB ports.
The F48 X1 in the USA comes with the NBT EntryNav unit, not the full NBT-Evo II unit. It may or may not support 2 USB ports by itself, however, it will support 2 USB with an OEM hub for sure. |

I'm in the US and have a July 2018 build. It has 4 USB ports: one in front of the cup holders, one under the center armrest, and two (both USB-C) in the backseat, like the ones pictured in the first post. I have the premium package with the larger touchscreen and touchpad controller. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Without looking at the wiring diagram and additional technical information, the ports may have USB-C connectors, but it sounds like they do not support USB-PD, which if it's the case, is a shame. The work-around would be to purchase an accessory 12V charger that supports USB-PD.

So do the single usb port by the cupholders and the two usb ports below the back vents all replace the cig lighters that used to be in those two areas?
Or did the two cig lighters get moved elsewhere? |

I’m so glad my April 18 xLine has proper 12v outlets, I don’t own a single usb-c device. And for those who do, one of those little plug-in adapters cost next to nothing... Why does anyone want this? It’s a crap idea! |

One USB is pretty bad compared to other vehicles, they could have added at least a second one elsewhere from the get-go, even if next to the one already under the armrest. |

Just tested two rear ( I don't have any other USB-C ) ports:
They can do nothing, but solid 5v 2.4A. PD is indicated as available, but it actually isn't. Can't activate anything, but 5v with PD trigger. So, unfortunately, no output above 12Watt. Good news is, that it does provide solid 12W ( 5v 2.4A ). Tested with iPhone 8 Plus. All tests were done with the engine running. FWIW, the ports I have are: One 12V in front, Another 12v under the armrest and third 12V in the cargo area. One regular USB under the armrest ( near 12V ) Two USB-C under the rear vents. That's geeky awesome.. but what is PD trigger? I didn't have any USB c-c cables myself except for one that I use on a charger so I'm using the regular cigarette lighter charger I've used in other cars with the quickcharge 3.0. I'm thinking of getting some cables since... I feel I might as well have some for the car
