Only Hartge H50 - S85 V10 E90 3-Series in U.S. is up for sale
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Hartge had, by then, long been creating BMW hot rods by swapping in larger engines into smaller cars; the previous H50 was based on the E46, with a V8 engine from the E39 M5. It is thought that no more than 10 E90s were given the Hartge H50 treatment worldwide. Hartge later made an E92 counterpart, the H50 V10 Coupe. I remember watching videos of this Frankenstein-mobile (driven by Tim Schrick). Later, Turner Motorsport got their hands on one and posted it for sale for $105,000 USD. Quote:
Fast forward to 2018, this H50 V10 makes an appearance on EAG's website, with a price tag of $59,990 USD. If my memory serves me right, this should be the same Hartge H50 that was sold by Turner Motorsport some years ago, meaning this is the only one in the US. Quote:
Hartge H1 5.0 - 1-Series with 5.0 V8 (S62 from E39 M5) Hartge Z50 - E85 Z4 with 5.0 V8 (S62 from E39 M5)

Now that is art. I've seen some S85 swaps but didn't know about Hartge. I always thought the problem with the M5 is it weighs too damn much. You've got to go back to the early '90s to find one under 4k lbs.

I noticed this car on EAG's site as well - very cool that there's one available. Loved this car when it came out...it sounds insane.
If I had to nitpick ...it's no faster than an E9x M3 and it needs an LCI conversion on the rear. And some xenons. But it's definitely unique - I love this car! |

Why is the 0-60mph slower than the stock E90 M3?

I love this..
I agree with posts above... all the money put into that e90 and all the money being asked for; halogens. Mean as hell, nonetheless.

When these first came out, I couldn't believe they used a base model as the donor. No xenons, no H/K sound, no sport package, etc.
I'm sure it was to keep the price down, but when someone is contemplating a $200k bespoke 3 series, does $200k and $205k make a difference in their purchasing decision? Furthermore, a 3rd pedal would have been a nice option as well. |

I'm with you though. For me it's all or nothing. Either it's gotta be completely base and stripped down (weight), or loaded with all the features. I'm being hypercritical, but to me this car has an identity crisis. I get it; some will say "that's not what this car is about." True. But still, when I drove the new M5 I was reminded that creature comforts/features and incredible performance are not mutually exclusive... It's still crazy impressive though, and if I had a spare $60k kicking around, I'd probably check it out. |

0-60 in 4.3 with 500 horsepower seems slow in a lightweight E90. A jb4 tuned N55 or N54 F30 or E90 can beat that time for a fraction of the cost of a V8 swap. Not much better than an M3 if that era if at all. Would be interested in the Z4 with a tuned v10.
