The last Easter Egg.

When you are in reverse the Xenons don't turn with the steering wheel! (actually, for a nanosecond it tried, and then realized it shouldn't)

I love finding out all the little things.

I was kidding about the last. Anyone else have any little know Easter Eggs we might not all be aware off?

The one I like is that when you put the car in reverse the auto-dimming (auto-dazzle) mirrors immediately go out of their slightly darkened state to fully bright so that you can see behind.

Not Easter Eggs, but some of my favorite subtle features are:

1. Automatic speed dependant volume control for the sound system.
2. The way the bluetooth system will take control of your active cell phone call when you get in the car.
3. The way the FOB memory not only remembers my seat and mirror positions and preferred temperature, but that it also remembers that I was listening to a CD and starts it from the exact same spot - even after my wife has been driving the car and listening to something else.
4. Just discovered that you can reset the OBC trip information much quicker by using the BC menu on the radio.

Another nice one is that if you have heated seats the car remembers the last setting for about 20 mins or so (for example if you are in a shop etc.). Longer than that and they will reset to zero.

Another cool thing is that if you have them set to 1,2 or 3 just hold in the button for a second or so and it will turn them off (as opposed to multiple presses to get to the off position)

Yeah, good one... I noticed the heated seat memory some time ago.

And let us not forget the REST function, which is great when you stop for gas or to run into a drug store or something!

EDIT: And here's a tiny one but a good one. Having a place to put the gas cap when refueling! I used to hate having it dangle with my other cars and bump against the paint. I love the nice little pearch that BMW has for it.

Holding in the button to turn it off??? Holy CRAP!

I've gotta try this out...

You think after owning the car for 6 months, you'd pick up on these things... Anything else you think I might be missing???

Quite honestly, coming from Jersey, I don't even know what my gas cap looks like.

Also, if it weren't for the fact that I went to college in PA, I wouldn't even know how to do it....

.. Or I like when you hold the iDrive knob N, S, E, or W for a few seconds, from deep within one of the applications, it goes to:
N = Phone
S = Radio
E = Nav
W = Vents
to the last accessed part in each of those apps.

That saved me soooo many knob pushes, once I found that out.

i have to admit, the annoying seatbelt chime has made buckling up, habitual for me. However, my fat dog sits in the passenger seat sometimes, and I cant ask him to buckle up. You know, cuz the Opposable thumb thing.

I like how the CA lets you close the windows, sunroof, and fold in the mirrors.

If you've had your heat on (cold weather) and you're going to shut off the car for awhile, like to get gas or make a short shopping trip, etc. you can push the REST button on the right temperature control knob and the system will continue to circulate nice warm air for up to about 15-20 minutes. The car is nice and comfy when you get back in.

Also nice if you have a passenger sitting in the car waiting.

I was just going to ask if it had that feature. I have that in my 02 X5 so it's nothing new but I use it all the time.

I don't like this function at all, and it irritates me that it can't be completely turned off. Sometimes if I happen to get up to 90mph the radio gets too loud all of a sudden. It is really irritating.

I did not know this and I almost use them on a daily basis!

Thanks!
