Shortage of (optional) big brakes?

Yesterday I called the local BMW seller inquiring about my M2 competition order and its production slot is expected to be in september. He did however warn me that if the M2 was to be built later in the month they might ask me to give up the optional (larger...) brake kit since the supplier seems to be having difficulties coping with demand (they seem to be the most popular choice, by a large margin!). Another alternative, should that moment arrive and I want to keep the big brake option, will be to postpone my car production to the beginning of 2019.
Did anybody else get similar information?

Just as well I wanted a 2019 build as I’m still enjoying my M2LCI!

# because " big brakes are not an option " for US vehicles.

Sounds like 512 sets of those brakes are needed.. STAT .. for the US MARKET.

Oh I hope so. I don't want to wait any longer than necessary.

Who's the manufacturer that can't keep up? Maybe BMW should do what they did a couple of years back with the manufacturer that was falling behind on providing steering wheel parts, IIRC they were based in Italy. BMW wasn't having it and literally purchased the company so it wouldn't happen again.

This kind of thing happens all the time with parts availability , Brembo has had a history of this problem. I wouldn't worry about it an extra couple of weeks to get the car you want isn't the end of the world.
