I got my production number about a month back and it still says "Your order has been received, and we're making space in the production schedule." when I login to "My BMW" on BMWUSA's website.

Any idea how long it should take for production to begin? How long was it in your case? Please share.

My dealer is going to get more insight on the ETA and get back to me this week.

Mine has said this since I got it, too. I think there is a hold on production or something, lol.

This makes me even more frustrated and confused. I got my production number on 6/25 - and it is still in "Order Received". My build week has been pushed from week 38 to 44. Dunno whats going on. I don't think my selected options would cause a delay...

Think it has to do with the brakes.

It depends on when your car, tied to your production number, is scheduled to be built. Usually around the start of production is when a VIN is assigned - check your scheduled production date, which is usually given as the start of the week in which when production should end, then go back one or two weeks earlier and that is approx the time by which you should expect to have a VIN (mine took 12 days from start to end of production).

Thanks. So from start of production to car arrives (in North America), it should be around 2.5-3 months, correct?! Thanks again

It varies, as there are a lot of factors, but for east coast it could be as little as 6 weeks (1.5 months), but typically not more than 8 weeks, whereas the range for west coast is often around 2 weeks longer, so your range is about right for west coast deliveries - 2.5 months (10 weeks) would be close to normal (though it can be less), while 3 months would be on the long side but w/in BMW's safe estimates.

This is not accurate right now due to high orders. East coast delivery, ordered last week of July - delivery ETA first week of January (per my dealer estimating 7 week after production begins)

No, it's still the same. They are talking about the time between the start of production and the delivery. If I remember correctly, your car doesn't go into production until week 43 or 45. That's why you have such a long wait.

Ah my bad, I thought they meant through and through. Yeah. 48 last I heard. I'll call BMWUSA next week and see if it moved back since they have changed about 10 times.

Does anyone know what triggers the "Scheduled for production" status on My BMW? BMW Genius stated my scheduled production week is 46, but the online page still says "Order Received."

I believe the consensus is about 4 weeks before it'll change.
