Hi,

I am in the process of buying the M2C and planning to add MPE and CF diffuser. But now I'm undecided....

After doing some research it looks like CF parts can be a pain to maintain. Is this really true or am I over thinking?

From what I read so far, CF can crack and hard to repair/paint if damaged. Also the MPE exhaust tips are cut straight round compared to the slanted cut exhaust tips in M2C giving the rear a slightly unique look. That means, the stock M2C rear exhaust tips will look unique/different but adding MPE will make the rear look the same as the outgoing M2.

M Perf CF parts can be an expensive add-on but if it is pain to maintain, then I will probably skip this time.

The car is mostly going to be used as a daily driver and for weekend fun.

You guys have any opinion? Would love to hear...

They aren't super hard to maintain but it depends where they are. The CF parts with the resin can be easier to maintain. Just be careful, wash often, and a coding or Xpel wrap can go a long way.

MPE is a non negotiable for me.

Congrats!

Short answer is if you buy high quality CF parts like the OEM ones you have nothing to worry about. If you smash them in an accident they won't be able to be repaired though.

I have slant cut f80 tips on my N55 M2 so either way it's going to look like some previous M2 variant if you care.

I have had M Perf CF on all of my Ms and I have never even thought about thier maintenance. I just treat them like every other body panel. No issues.

Nothing to worry about in terms of maintenance. BMW or any quality CF manufacturer have all good longevity. It's all Chinese knock-off that has the problem with clear coat resin falls off after year or so.

My suggestion is to stay with good manufacturer. Don't pay extra later because you want to save money up front.

However, CF parts will not be able to be fixed as easy as other plastic or metal panels. CF parts are very rigid but they tend to "break" when enough force is applied (metal can be dented, bent, and can be fixed/ plastics are also going to break but they are cheap to replace). But that is only when you have serious impact on your car from accident(s).

+1

I’ve got the diffuser on my F80 and haven’t had any issues with it at all. Looks as good as the day it was installed.

Can someone confirm that a rear diffuser for the OG also fits the M2C?
