How much time do you spend detaling you car?

I'm curious to see how much time you guys spend detailing your cars. I spend about half a day doing mine.

Weekly wash= a solid 1 hour. Extra coat wax add 1 hour occasionally.

Full detail= 4-6 hours, a few times/year

I do a weekly wash with quick detailer about an hour. Every Month I do a complete detail that takes me half a day, wash, wax, interior.

It takes me 1-2 hours to wash, dress wheels and wheelwells, vacuum interior and clean with a damp microfiber. I do this weekly. Every month or so I will wax which adds about 45 minutes. Every 4 months I do a complete exterior detail which includes wash, clay bar, polish, paint cleaner and then a sealant. Takes about 4 hours. I do the leather every couple of months - takes about 30 minutes.

Now when I had a Jet Black car those times triple. Just very difficult and time consuming.

If it's more than a wash I just pay someone to do it. I used to detail my cars, polish and wax and all that fun stuff.... But on my time off work I'd rather be driving my car than cleaning it.

I have a new found respect for mobile detailers. I used to spend 6-7+ hours detailing my car on a weekend every 3 months. Now I just do a good 2 hour wash and let the pros (detailwerkz.com) do it.

But I have to admit detailing your own car does give you a lot more pride and feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day when you can just sit back and look at it. (for the full 2 days before it gets rained on :P )

I rather enjoy detailing my own car. You are absolutely right about the feeling you get afterwards. What I usually do is call some BMW friends to bring their cars too and wash them together.

Once every week...about 3hrs each time depending on how dirty the car gets. If polishing is necessary, I'd probably be spending around 4-5hrs.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't have hours to spend washing and detailing my car. Wow, that's a lot of time spend making it clean.

Fully agree with you and skier but I find it a nice way of relaxing to detail my car sometimes!

PLUS: Jet Black is a pain to keep clean anyway...
