iDrive knob packed up..

OK, so lets get the jokes out the way first shall we....

The iDrive knob has now packed up - the motor spins inside making weird noises trying to return the knob to the centre but its making a metallic grinding sound and not moving!..

Dropped it back to Shytners again and they confirmed it was bust

- car to go in AGAIN for a day to have this changed and another full iDrive reprogram (aka remap blanking session!)

So far the total is:

1) Rear light cluster faulty - iDrive update
2) Passenger Airbag reprogrammed - iDrive update
3) iDrive knob - iDrive ipdate

Getting a bit of a regular at chipped UK these days!

hmm glad i dont have idrive

i know what i would rather have between the idrive and a remap

good luck getting it fixed Jim, i hope your insting on a decent loan car compenstate for the hassle.

on a side note, you wouldnt belive how much the dealer tried to push me towards getting the idrive option, he asked me more than hmm 10 times if i wanted to change my mind

... why you not understand the words that are coming out of my mouth ... NO !

Not to start the debate, but everyday I get in my car and go through the music on my USB I say to myself, I can't believe I ever considered not getting the i-drive, luckily my friend talked me into it - he related it to a complete different experience in the car - and I have to agree

Agreed. iDrive is great. Plus the dash looks crap without it.
