M3 or C63 AMG?
After long consideration, I have decided to go with C63 AMG. I just cannot ignore the power of C63 AMG. Don't get me wrong, M3 is a great car but frankly I will never use it on track. I am looking for the power right off the bat, and I think C63 AMG has no problem with that with high torque and hp then M3.
Previously, I did own several BMW's like E46 M3, E90 330i, E92 335i coupe. I am trying to get into something different. I have own last 2 generation of 3 series. I just don't want the same body of E92 for my next car. please let me know what you'll think.... |

couldnt test drive the c63 b/c it was already purchased, but it has the most unreal exhaust note ever and awesome seats. i usually dont like the light beige color, but the black and sahara combo looks amazing. i'd agree that the m3 on the street wasnt as impressive as i thought, you need to wring out the engine to get it going. the only real concerns (albeit minimal) i have with the c63 would be operating costs. im imagining having to change the rear tires all the time, and getting 12 mpg. i originally was intent on the m3, but when the mb dealer offered $2100 off the c63 im kind of on the fence.

I've replied to a couple of these threads already. I'll state again that the C63's ride is too harsh, especially for a weekender/long trip car. Lack of Comfort Access (Keyless-Go) is a bummer as well. The final thing to not get my vote was the look, it's not entirely distinctive, the rear end especially. Luckily, a lot of these observations were subjective so your mileage may vary. Aside from that it's fantastic machine and you can't go wrong with it.
I hope this doesn't turn into another C63 vs M3 bashing thread. |

I prefer the M3 but it is your choice and you chose the C63. It seems you are comfortable with your decison and that's all that matters. I've seen the C63 in person and it sure looks aggressive and drives fast. Congratulations on your new toy.

Saw one today, a white one, driving and the exhaust note was so gooood. And the guy was not pushing the car at all. Exterior wise, they could have done better. Not saying M3 is the best looking car, ( it is to me) but C63 AMG is just too blah, espeically from the back. However, I do like the exhaust note alot.

Hey now.... with a temper like that, can you be trusted behind the wheel of either of these cars? I'm sure this thread will be moved to the "M3 vs" forum since there are several others around like it... Me... I waited so long for an M3 that I was ready for something different when my order was finally accepted. So I got the C63. Note to self: Don't get on a waiting list 3 years in advance! However, I'm glad I joined this forum 3 years ago because (most of) the people here are great. I can't say that yet about the MB forums..... although there are good people there too! BMWs just attract more enthusiasts, although the C63 has lured several M3 buyers away. I can say, I've never driven an MB that felt like the C63 does. I love mine and have no regrets. Seriously, you can't get to the limits of either of these cars on the street without potential trouble. No joke, but tonight on my way home I did my first fast takeoff in Manual mode... no sooner did I reach 60mph (which happened quickly, I have no doubt in the car rag times) and there were flashing lights in my rear view mirror. wtf, so I'm not so good at picking times to GO FAST. The cop let me go. My point is that either of these cars is freaking fast, faster than most anything else on the road.... drive them both and see what suits your needs/desires. Don't buy one because it has a faster 0-60 time (even though it's comforting) ... the fact is, if you are really going to line up with someone at a stoplight, there are a lot of factors in who comes out the "winner" The C63 is more muscle-car, heavy, solid but still outhandles most cars on the road. If you like a good loud rumble, the C63 doesn't disappoint. The automagic tranny is very good and blips the throttle on downshifts and you get a nice rumble and exhaust popping. THAT... is really, really good. The M3 is just as fast IMO. It goes fast in a different way. It's more F1 style... high revving and sounds amazing in the cabin. Like you've read, the C63's suspension is stiff. Depending on what road you're on, it can be perfect, or it can feel ridiculous. I've determined there is one situation this suspension just does not know how to cope with -- and that is freeway expansion joints at 80mph. I feel like I'm being dribbled like a basketball. It can be really bad, and that's not an exaggeration (I drive an Evo 8 most days so I am used to STIFF) HOWEVER, those particular places on the freeway make up less than 10% of my driving, so I am fine with the suspension. However I can imagine someone buying this car for his wife and her complaining and seriously getting rid of the car because it's too stiff. But I like it. It corners very flat and it's very solid. The C63 has a better Nav setup IMO, if that counts to you. I'm getting about the same mileage as an M3. So MPG is not a reason to choose one over the other. Do you like easy torque and muscle-car sound with a traditional slushbox in a "classy" (I hate that word but can't think of anything else) understated package? Or do you like a high-revving F1 style V8 in a car that's a little more intuitive to drive, and either manual or the latest tech M-DCT? Personally, and even though I already had to have a sensor replaced, I feel more confident in the long-term reliability of the C63. That's just my feeling though. Time will tell. Although I've only seen 3 M3's on the road, I think they will eventually be more numerous than C63's. I'd have both if I could justify it. I love V8's and these two engines are very different but both AWESOME!!!

I have to agree. Love the M3, but if you have owned a lot of similar cars and can't afford both, it might be time to put an axe murderer in the garage for a while.
