Spring Plate needed?
I'm at 150,000 miles and will be overhauling my suspension soon with new springs/dampers and required misc. parts, and wasn't sure if I would need to replace this part located on top of the front struts:
31336764093 - upper spring plate (I think it's also called a top hat) Are these reusable, or do folks typically refresh with new based on mileage? Thanks!

Its stout metal, unless damaged no reason to replace it. Get the rubber piece just because its cheap and if it were to wear then your spring and this plate could be compromised.
Oh and always the mount. You gotta break the strut to replace the mount too so you wouldnt want to have the mount fail down the line and have to do it all over again. |

If it was only like $100 more than otherwise Id consider that for the struts. Our strut design makes it a PITA to compress the springs with a cheap one, you need one of those $260 strut tools.
