F80 ZCP Owner - I was wrong about the M2's seats

I actually got to spend a good bit of the morning in my dad's M2 LCI today, and amongst the many positive things that I was able to experience in my drive, I REALLY noticed how much I liked the M2's seats.

For those who might remember, I had a 235 for a period of time (I didn't like the car at all), but I don't remember the seats in a positive or negative way. After that, I had the 981 CS and now ZCP F80. Both the Cayman and M3 have comfortable seats, but they're obviously made with other things in mind (keeping you in place when driving spiritedly).

After my drive in the OG M2 this morning, I have a new dilemma on my hand in regard to the M2C...I am not sure I want the Comp seats...the OG M2 seats seem to strike that perfect place of comfort and functionality. And they don't have the color inserts that the Comp seats will have (not sure if I am sold on those or not to be honest).

And...on another point, do I even need the S55? I really put the M2 through its respective paces today, and it is a REALLY good car. I mean, I love it. It feels so much more nimble than my M3, and it's significantly smaller. I didn't even consider that I might want more power this morning. If anything, I can appreciate the linear power delivery of the N55 0T0 more now...the only thing I wanted was the exhaust to be louder. Much louder.

Decisions, decisions....

All I can say is get your order in now if you want the M2 or else you'll need to settle for used later. There are deals to be had, people are getting between $3-4.5k off list.

No OG M2 allocations in my area at all. In fact, OG 6MT’s are going for MSRP again. M2 is a winner, the OG was a limited 3 year run with huge demand. The idea that it was going to free fall this summer was ridiculous. Production ends / demand does not.

Two current M2 owners attended a M2 Comp closed room event. Houbi and Daan both had very positive things to say about new seats. They came away saying the seats were one of the highlights and it feels you sit lower in the car.

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1499836

Quote:
The seats are really a highlight for me...very nice looking, good position and low...actually what this car deserves and the M2 would deserve....looking at the car from outside really makes a outstanding look. I already told my dealer that we need to have them in my M2
Quote:
The seats where automatic and i was very positively suprised about how low they go. I had the feeling that they where even a bit lower than my E46's seats, so thats a big plus. i was able to get a much better angled and lower seating position than in the M2 LCI, very nice.

Honestly if anyone is looking for the less expensive LCI, just wait. Large discounts are coming.

Resonator delete and downpipe add serious decibels.

My dad loves the stock sound and overall loudness - just a little too muted for me. But that's easy enough to fix.

The main issue I have is from a timing perspective - I am less than 1/2 way through my F80 lease, so the "hit" would likely be significant.

Overall, I just wanted highlight that the current M2's seats are in fact, very good and also very comfortable.

Not to take anything away from the M2C as it's got some great features, but in time I think it's going to remind us all how great of a car (specifically for the price) the OG M2 is.

Getting a MT6 LCI right now at a discount is a fantastic buy.

I too found my M2 seats comfortable.

Nobody in their right would deny how great the M2 is. I miss mine everyday.

Try to drive an M2 sporting the M Performance Exhaust. Your father can drive it in 'Sport Mode'. But if he wants a face with a grin cramp and school kid days giggling: the howl in 'Track Mode' is aural N55 bliss.

Well, last bell is ringing to get an M2 with Mineral Grey as factory paint color.

Recently an Italian forum fellow reported that he got a 25% discount.

Lol I will gladly trade seats with you if and when your M2C arrives. Make sure to get blue contrast stitching

Also if you want a louder exhaust just get a Fabspeed Sportcat and any catback of your choosing and I promise you the car will be PLENTY loud.

Driving them back to back, I found the M2 seats to be comfortable but less supportive. I would prefer the M3/M4 seats but it may depend on your body type.

I can see that - but they seemed to work well enough for a spirited drive. I am sure that a dedicated track toy would benefit from a more robust seat though - I was just surprised at how much I liked them.

Demand already had fallen off. People have been able to get discounts off MSRP for a while now. Maybe now that the model is going away there is a small spike. Used prices are starting to come down also. It wasn't a limited run either, BMW did underestimate demand so the production numbers got increased, but it is sales driven and not capped.

In US, if I can choose regular M2 seat vs. M3/4 seat, I would choose regular M2 seat.

The M3 left leg bolster bothers me, it pinched my left leg.
Overtime, I learn NOT to rest my left leg on the dead pedal (I have DCT).

I think the M2C seats are outstanding and a true “M” seat as opposed to the regular M2. I test drove and M2 a few times and have been on the fence for a few months now. It just didn’t feel like a true M car... something was always lacking.

M2C has everything the M2 should have been. Going to buy!

The original seats aren't bad, and can be adjusted to fit tighter. I didn't really care about the M seats until I sat in an M3. They hug you more than I thought.
