U.S Base price set at $58,900

Base price for the M2C seems to have been released tonight. More package and M parts pricing to follow. Seems legit:

Quote:
The 2019 BMW M2 Competition will start at $58,900, BMW spokesperson Alexander Schmuck confirms to Motor1.com.

BMW also confirms some options pricing for the company's latest high-performance model. Metallic paint will be $550; a moonroof will go for $1,050; and the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be $2,900. There will also be an M Drivers Package for $2,500 that will boost the speed limiter to 174 miles per hour (280 kilometers per hour) from the stock 155 mph (249 kph) and will come with a one-day driving school at the BMW Performance Center. An $850 Executive Package will include a heated steering wheel, adaptive LED headlights, automatic high beams, wireless device charging, and speed limit monitor.

At $58,900, the M2 Competition costs $4,400 more than the regular M2 that it replaces, but the additional performance might make the higher price worthwhile. The new model gets the 3.0-liter biturbo inline-six engine from the M3 and M4, and it makes 405 horsepower (302 kilowatts) and 406 pound-feet (551 Newton-meters) of torque in this application – an advantage of 40 hp (30 kW) and 63 lb-ft (85 Nm) over the outgoing M2. The standard gearbox is a six-speed manual, and all models get a electronically-controlled limited-slip differential.

If this is true, that amount is about what most expected, and is still good value.

Now we need the prices of the M performance parts...

We need the entrie pricing guide. That BMWBLOG article had many inaccuracies in it, as always.

Why doesn’t BMW just tell us what the price is instead of all this slow-release crap. This price doesn’t tell what’s standard.

I predicted $57,500. Off by $1,400. Not bad but that's without factory options, whatever those might be..

This doesn’t have any BMW official pricing snapshots like we’ve seen from other markets.

Just some writer who suspects the price is releasing today or in the next week. He took %increase from other markets and calculated the non-factual number.

It's mid-May, officially dammit - where the F is the pricing guide???

Maybe BMW is concentrated on making the 3:26 video that explains how Bill and Buddy will be expected to install the CF roof.

BMWBLOG has some connections, so the base price might be right. What I take issue with is all their inaccuracies. They do this all the time...

"So it’s a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine that makes 410 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque."

US standards is 405hp.

"According to BMW, the BMW M2 Competition will get from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds with the rapid-shifting DCT. If you want to row your own gears, you’ll have to wait an extra two-tenths to get to sixty, as BMW claims a 4.4 second time."

The current model is 4.1 w/DCT. BMW has stated the M2c is 4.0 flat w/DCT.

"...you notice the biggest changes. Its ride height seems even lower than on the standard car and it sits on very aggressive..."

Wrong, the ride height it exactly the same as the outgoing model. Ground clearance is less due to either the revised front bumper or larger muffler.

"Inside, the BMW M2 gets new optional M Sport seats..."

According to BMW Press USA M sport seats are standard for US. Let's wait and see what the official pricing guide says, I'm betting they are standard.

I guessed upper 58,xxx before options and destination charge, so it comes in just less than 60k.

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=139

Next post said it was pointless to guess

This doesn’t mean much. We need to know what is standard equipment and what is the price of options and packages.
