Can’t Reset Rear Brake Pad Service Light
My idrive says resetnpossible but when I go to do it, it says reset unsuccessful. My rear pads have plenty of thickness left. I may have forgot to reset the light when i installed the m performance brakes about 10k miles ago.
Anyways why would this happen? Did the sensor break? Are those one time use? I did track the car last weekend and maybe that played into this happening.

If the sensor has been tripped then it must be replaced or you'll get the reset failed message. I found this out when I replaced my pads after it tripped and tried using the old sensor, with the same result. You can use the old sensor after a pad change only if it was never tripped.

Regardless, do I need new pad sensors still?

I can absolutely guarantee that if you don't order it with the pads you will, and then you'll have to pull the wheel again to change it. I changed my pads, left the old sensor in, and it would not reset. I was smart enough to check it before putting the wheel back on, and I had the new sensor that I'd ordered just in case. I changed the sensor and the reset took. My front sensor had not tripped, so I was able to re-use it.

Same findings here. Replaced my pads with a few MM of material left before tripping sensor. Popped it right back in and got away without spending another 12 bucks.

I ran into a similar issue and it was caused because the clock on the computer was unset (because I had pulled the battery negative lead). Make sure the time is set.
