08 TL vs 08 e92 328xi
My cousin wants to see if see of she can take me. Do I stand a chance?
While on this topic, I've had many C300's come up to me too. One guy wants to race. His car is stock also. He also has 4matic. Do I stand a chance here? |

I have to agree. TL > 328xi
I drive a 335xi and a TL actually so I can tell you from personal experience that the 328xi is no match for the TL. But the 335 will rip the doors of the TL without breaking a sweat... ESPECIALLY if it's uphill. |

lol. I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was just saying that the 335 would definately win but a 328 doesn't stand a chance. So 335>TL>328 like you were originally saying.

Yea I would have to agree that the TL will be faster than the 328xi. Because the TL has about 40 HP up on the BImmer, and is also FWD instead of AWD. It will beat it. Doubt "the doors would be blown off" though
Let us know how it goes

FWD is a handicap in this instance.

Why - less grip from a stand-still? Maybe. But AWD cars are heavier, and have 4 wheels to be driven instead of two. Not sure if this would be the case after both cars have gipped above 20 MPH.

Guessing both AT -- the TL not type S --
230HP/200lb-ft and 3627 lb. for the BMW... 258HP/233lb-ft and 3623 lb for the Acura.... In a straight line the TL should take the BMW... unless your cousin weighs over 400lb. Or you could handicap her by having her fill the trunk with 300 lb. of sand...

Well in most racing applications, FWD is a detriment. Less grip with the weight shift and attending torque steer would hamper a 0-60 run.

TL will win. My roommate has one, its a nice fast car, but the handling is nowhere near the BMW. And yes, the TL definitely won't take a 335.

The TL (non-s type) had limited torque steer when I had one as a loaner and beat the hell out of it. I had a 01 - CL-S (same engine) and I just watched a vid of a 0-60 run I did its under six seconds, so yeah it will def. get ya in a straight line. Sorry BUT you'll look cooler!

The TL should really be named the TS
Torque steer. This was my experience when I test drove one a couple of years ago. JMO. Yes, it is a fast car in a straight line though.
