How long before production was your production date confirmed?

If production is estimated to be in first week of June on a new build, how long before then does BMW confirm the actual date that production will start?

Your production week is the week in which your car finishes production.

I think BMW doesn't confirm it until your car actually starts production, which would be 1-2 weeks before your production week.

Out of curiosity... does it really take 1-2 weeks to build an entire car? How is that time spent?

From what I understand, it takes a week or two because "start of production" is not "start of assembly". Because everything is built on-demand, it takes a couple of days to get the individual components (e.g. vehicle frame, unpainted body panels, engine and drivetrain components etc...) ready and shipped to the main assembly line.

The parts that make up the body and frame takes about a day to get assembled (welding, etc...), then it will spend another day or so in the paint shop.

Finally, it takes a day to do final assembly (where the drivetrain is mated to the body and all the interior bits are installed) to complete the car.
