Are BMW deceiving us with the new M2 Competition ?

Competition???????

The seats are the same as a standard M4 not the same as competition pack, the comp wheels are extra.

So the question is

If you buy a standard M2C with the original wheels and the new seats what is competition about the car?

My answer is the badge and kick plates.

Yes more power, only because the n55 engine wouldn't meet Europes emissions. The same engine is in the standard M4,M4 comp. you opt for the comp pack on the M4 and you get the camp look. The new M2C you have to pay extra to make it look like a comp or have a standard M2C with a comp badge.

The M2C should come with the comp spec as standard ie wheels, comp seats and brakes

I think effectively what you now have is two cars in one. If they could have continued the N55 base M2 then they would have made the comp S55 M2 include as standard the wheels/seats/brakes you mentioned, but for a higher price, distinguishing it as a second, higher tier model.

What we have now is a half way house, S55 M2 for as cheap as they can make it to cover the base M2 market price point and be the entry M car it's always supposed to be. But then give you the choice to spec it up to full competition levels and price...

That's my thoughts reading between the lines anyway.

I agree

They should of brought out a new M2 with a new engine and you could add the comp packed make it an M2C.

I'm seriously thinking of letting my M2C position go and just keeping the M2PE I have. Figure I save a bit of money and can always increase HP and have better sounding car.

When we was all waiting I was told there was a number of deposit taken and they don't know if I could get one. Last week I got an email asking if I wanted to come in a talk about the M2C and see what they can do for me.

I am in the same position...first on the list but will probably pass and work on my 17. I was hoping they would follow up on the special lightweight edition from 17 with lighter seats, carbon roof , etc. Instesd it's more gran tourer. I will anxiously await the track testing to see if it's really "better".

That's interesting to hear.

I'm also in the West Mids and I'm of the position that I'm not chasing an M2C, I'm going to wait and see if I get a call/email so I have the upper hand in any negotiations. I'm actually pretty happy with my M2 and unless a great deal is offered I'd be more inclined to carry on with it.

I also don't believe they'll be short supply, maybe initially but they'll ramp up volume over time to match what they churned out with the current M2.

This exactly apart from I have a deposit down for one.

I think in 18months time you will get a discount on these.

We really don’t know yet how a US specked M2C will be configured. I wouldn’t be surprised if M3/M4 seats are standard in our market. Just like non powered seats are standard in some markets on the M2 and power seats are standard here.

Dude there's no difference in the seats except the cut outs so your rear passengers can poke you.The big difference is the full merino leather vs Dakota leather.

They are not the same, the new seats in the M2C are standard M4 seats, comp seats are lighter and only come with the comp pack.

Dont worry about what i am saying head out to your local BMW and sit in comp pack and normal. They are the same seats - the cutouts for poking. The weight difference would be negligible unless we are talking F1 racing.

M2C seats have no cut out like F80/F82 ZCP. It is standard F80/F82 seat. But the badge on the neck part is in black color like ZCP offered in some countries.

The stitching is more like 30 Jahre edition which isnt really my taste but I am willing to give up since the seat gives you more comfort and support compared to standard M2 dakota seats.

I have driven both m4 and comp, the comp seats are not comfortable, my Lower back hurts after an hour, the standard seat is more comfortable. You are missing what I'm saying.

The new M2 is a competition with standard M4 seats.

If I already owned a M2, I wouldn't bother switching to the M2 Comp. However even if the new model doesn't have exactly the same stuff as a M4 Comp pack, for the small price increase from 2018 to 2019, I think the M2 Comp is well worth the extra money.

Yeah I do not like the M4 Competition seats at all. The holes in the seats look terrible. I am glad we are not getting them in the M2c!

A lot of people (current M2 owners) are butt hurt about the M2c. We are getting a different engine in the M2c!! This is rare occurrence. People are now nit picking on the seats. lol.

I have just got back from my dealer as I was having my MPE replaced( very happy)

I spoke with my sale guy and he said they will know the price and spec beginning of may. He is a nice guy and told me he wouldn't swap and I have a LCI model and they was only produced for less than a year and not many was sold as they had a short life and the majority of buyers bought the pre LCI.
