Wanted to share my recent experience with 50/50 solution of isopropyl alcohol and water on the wheels caked with brake dust . I used a cheap water spray to atomize the solution, and I let it soak for 5 minutes. The brake dust was no match and it fell through the bottom of the wheel barrel. After a quick dab with a microfiber towel to remove excess solution, my wheels looked like new again.
This works great when you don't have access to hose down wash or have limited time. And, this is a lot cheaper than those expensive color changing solutions that lasts about 3 washes. Bonus: it doesn't leave rust on the rotors unlike water. |

This also strips off any protective coatings you have on the wheels though (like a wax or whatnot).
