How do batteries charge?

I had my battery in the kitchen on a charger in Recondition Mode. After 24 hours it came up with an error code which is "does not enter float stage within 24 hrs". So disconnected and reconnected everything and just pressed the Auto Charge button. At start on the digital display it said 20% and it kept alternating between 12v (about) and 2.0a. I looked at it after a short while and it had gone from 20% to 60%. Then a little later the 2.0a started rising. Now it's been a while, maybe a couple of hours, and it's gone up to 9.0a but it's still at 60%. And it's about 12v. Is that how it's supposed to be or is that battery fucked?

Edit from 60% to 20%

Your battery capacity sounds knackered? Time to replace.

It looks like it. I finally figured out how to do the test with my charger. My battery is 700a and the test shows as 480a. Also it says 68%. I've ordered a new battery already.

That will be fine, if I remember right yours isn't an AGM battery?

Don't forget to code the car once it's installed

It's not AGM, my car doesn't have Start/Stop. Will have to find some tutorials how to code a battery with INPA. And my OBD port stopped working when the problems mention in the other thread started...

Assuming all the problems are down to a weak battery then the OBD port should work again
