Bimmerpost exclusive: M2 Competition render!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
UPDATED 05 April: Tweaks to the renders mainly by making the main air intake more angular and shortening the fangs... in stock form to start (with Shadowline trim) and available colours: Sunset Orange, Hockenheim Silver (at least how I guess it is), Black Sapphire Metallic & Alpine White...

Hi All, here's my render on the upcoming M2 Competition soon to be released (at the end of April). It's going to be interesting to see how it will compare to the real thing.

I've tried to make the render as realistic as possible, including the parking sensors. The element I'm not completely comfortable is the shape of the kidneys but my design is based on information circulated on the M2 Competition forum here: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1477654. The actual kidneys could be more like the M8 Gran Coupe concept...

As you can see the changes are subtle but makes the front end more angular and sharper looking. The main air intake is clearly like the M5's but a bit more angular, there are 3 small air intake slots at its bottom. The fangs are pulled more to the side, are more angular and shorter, allowing more cooling to the engine (& brakes?). I've lowered the car compared to the stock M2 and using stock M2 wheels, but probably wider. Stock 4 piston brakes... I've made the render with the regular bonnet. For M mirrors fanatics, yes, they are on my render & body coordinated. Finally the car is in shadowline trim. Since he original car was a pre-LCI, I've added the LCI headlights.

I will be making more renders with bits I'd like to have such as: different wheels, CCB, M4 GTS carbon bonnet, M4 CS front splitter, more body colours etc...

As you can see the renders are with the available colours discussed in this forum to give you a realistic look at the car. Again it's unfortunate the M2 is produced with a limited colour palette, but at least the colours are more interesting than at it's launch...

Hope you like the renders!

hmmmm not totally fair comparo but thanks anyway.
The 2018 model has also LED lights, can also be dropped like that, window trim can also be black, and we can also tint the windows

Whats left
- the kidneys ( which i like and i hope will retrofit ).
- the bumper, cool upgrade, can do without
- the wheels are very nice and show the brakes better
- THE MIRRORS !!! No brainer !!!!

Jokes apart if the engine sounds good and if i had the money...

Unfortunately the Connected kidney grilles are connected to the facia which makes up the front of the car so you cannot have one without the other as the Areodynamics have been reprofiled.

I was thinking the same thing after looking at the M2 LCI yesterday - that whole piece will be different.

And it might be tough to match HKS especially...perhaps BMW did that on purpose.

The fangs are too long. From the leaked picture they seem shorter on the vertical. The area around the front plate isn't quite right either. Other than that I think its pretty spot on!

Also Scott previously confirmed the rear spoiler would be this style... or at least from the name he used to describe it...

Nice work. The new design changes to the front bumper make the whole front of the car look beefier and more agreesive then the current M2.Even the connected kidney grilles look good.It actually looks much better then I thought it would. These will be good design changes if it ends up looking like this.

I don't think the fangs are too long. the leaked pic is really distorded hence the optical illusion...

This style of rear spoiler? Cool!! Haven’t seen one like this for awhile!

To me it all looks retrofittable (#newword?). Should be able to order from IND if not BMW. I’m dying for the GTS hood, but $4200 from edison is more than I can rationalize. Render looks great. Super jealous of your photoshop skills. If your bored more colors would be nice.

Does the window trim have the option of chrome vs black? I never realized!

Can the animated GIF be modified to include sound? I'd love to see it with a mouse-over on the exhaust, where we could hear the famous S55 farting.

If you stare at the lower grille on the animated gif and make breathing noises it's like it's doing mouth to mouth. Cannot be unseen

[PICTURE]
I don't recall Scott26 confirming that. No other echoes so far than the Gurney flap of the current M2.

Maybe you mixed up with the 2015 render pictured below (with a boot spoiler inspired by the BMW GT6 Vision Concept) ?
