S3 Sportback

The wife's done a deal on a new S3 sportback, looks great and is rapid - handles this rotten weather with ease. Great service from Aberdeen Audi, managed £4.9k off list price who beat all the central belt dealers hands down.

Nice car, will need a decent write up

We considered one but lack of rear boot space put us off.

Yeah the boot is slightly smaller than the normal A3 because of the rear differential etc. It's a very nice drive, the biggest thing i noticed from my 440i is the quality of the leather - it's Nappa in the S3, makes the 440's look like rhino Hyde.....

It goes about it's business in a completely different manner to my non MPPSK 440.

Having had 2 day test drives of this, the Golf R and M140 (which I eventually bought), the Golf was by far the better car of the 3, much better to drive than the S3 which is baffling considering its 90% the same car. Kind of regret not going for the Golf over the M140, as good as it is the Golf is such a good all rounder. I'd also argue the 7.5 is nicer inside than the S3 and definitely the M140.

The only thing in honesty that swung the M140 over them all is the engine, a fast 4 pot just doesn't cut it for me.

Nice car all the same, and in relation to the above comments i'd feel less at risk with the S3 than the R as far as nicking goes, so many R's have gone round the Wakefield area as of late it's scary.

I would consider an S3 next time for the wife only really because we have had two Golfs now and a change of brand might be needed.

The S3 won it for the below reasons,

The wife wanted 4 wheel drive,
The wife didn't really want a golf R,
The golf R was very expensive for Similar spec,
We already have a 440i so the M140 was too similar,
That Virtual cockpit and Sports seats are superb.

Looking at circa £450 a month with a £2k deposit - just depends on spec and how desperate the dealers are to shift a car - Lookers Audi were useless, they own just about every dealer in the central belt in Scotland and Newcastle.

John Clark in aberdeen were outstanding, Lookers just said they couldn't get anywhere near so our business went to Aberdeen.

I've a good "in" at Glasgow Audi (Lookers) so I'd hope they'd be reasonably competitive

Thats a really good spec to be fair. 450pcm with a 2k in seems like a good deal to me.
