Lacquer peel rear bumper

When I bought my E91 last August it had a small patch of lacquer peel on the rear bumper. Now as time is passing it's getting larger, and of course every time I wash it a bit more comes off.
What is the best way to deal with it?
Would it need to have the whole bumper re-lacquered?
Not sure if it makes a difference but the car is silver.
My next door neighbour has his own body shop, so I'm going to ask him about it, but thought I'd just see what you guys suggest.

had this on my ST..ended up getting both bumpers done, then added zunsport..made a big difference,,the painter said wouldnt be much difference in prepping the bumper only for a clearcoat..and said it wouldnt be the same,,but that was with panther black,,£300 for the 2 bumpers i paid..also did my fogs all round..

Lacquer peel is always a respray if you want it to be fixed. If you catch it early you could cover it with something to stop it spreading but it wouldn't look great.
