BMW raises CO2 figures for entire range

To be expected with the new testing regime. It will be good to see how the various models are individually impacted and how they compare with real world figures that you see on fuelly for example.

So what it is saying is these news tests now tell the truth? ie REAL CO2 and fuel figures.

Not some bullshit figures conjured up in a lab.

I think the figures were real, but the tests were pointless as they didn't reflect how a car is actually used, whereas this test does to a greater extent.

You can see a comparison of the two tests side by side here (scroll down):

Still not expected to reflect the average real world figures from users and the fuel monitoring sites.

There are some compromises built in at this first stage of WLTP & RDE, to ease the 'shock'. For one thing, manufacturers appear to have lobbied hard, so as to achieve their official CO2 targets.

I would if I was them as the cars coming out now will have been years in development before the testing regime was agreed so it is moving the goalposts to some extent.

Thankfully the chancellor has already announced that these will only be used for BIK and VED calculations from 2020, which means by the time I order any new cars the actual WLTP rates and implications for the period of new car ownership will be much clearer, and won't affect my current cars too much.

I also read in the free Evo magazine that is available on the Kindle app that manufacturers don't quite tell the full story with regards the weight of their cars.

Some manufacturers car weight is recorded without options and in some cases without things like air con even though it's not possible to spec some cars without air con.

If you read up on the new WLTP tests, you'll see that ALL potential options have to be tested and results reported in the test results.
