+1 to expand, it's underneath an access panel/tray in the floor.

Surprised these things were not pointed out during your new car delivery walk-through. Did you buy new? If used, from a BMW dealer?

In my case I bought mine used and not from a BMW dealer, and these forums were like a voice from heaven for a newbie BMW owner.

i got it new and the delivery process took like 3 hours. showing me how to set up the seats, installing sirius and programing it and showing me the computer system on the car took forever. i totally forgot to ask about the battery. lol. i still don't know how to use my paddle shifters well at all.

i love this forum btw.

Apparently they also didn't show you where the owner's manual was either. It's the big leather case on the tray in the trunk on the right side... above the location of battery.

Look in the index (the listing in the back of the owners manual that alphabetically lists the subjects covered in the book) under "battery."

Solonng, I owe you an apology. I re-read the manual yesterday, looking for information on coolant, and low and behold, at least for the '06 manual, it makes no mention as to exactly where the battery is. Sorry for the flame.
