As Emilime said it deletes the secondary catalytic converters. Our cars from the turbo back has the first cats within the downpipes, leads down to the secondary cats, then goes to either a resonator (e90) or an h-pipe (e92). It just allows for less restriction which creates better flow. Many aftermarket exhausts have a resonater or a deleted secondary cat. I just plan to go a different route with my exhaust.
