MPPSK or Suspension and Tires
Help me make up my mind on what to get next for my 340i.
What would you do first if you only had money for one of these options? MPPSK or KW Street Comfort or Bilstein PSS10 Coils and a set of Non-RFT Long term I want to do both, but at the time I only have enough money for one. |

Suspension because I just upgraded to H&R Sports and Bilstein B8s and I'm really satisfied with it

Totally MPPSK! actually BMW should not sell 340i without it. I got MPPSK straight away and loving it. It totally transforms the car. The responsiveness and sound is addictive.

Improve ride quality, or add a fart can... seems pretty obvious to me

I have the MPPSK and love it. But I have the downpipe, full system and exhaust tips, not just some silly exhaust tips.

My primary problem with the MPPSK is the price. I'm all for a tune and exhaust, but aftermarket options are much more cost effective. I'm waiting for a proper aftermarket flash tune to be released for the B58.

Gotta say I'm a little surprised more people are choosing suspension/handling improvement over power/sound imrpovement with the MPPSK.
I also feel that the MPPSK is overpriced. I'd get the parts online but after the dealer install it'll probably be between $3200-$3500, which is a hefty bill. I feel like I can get a really nice suspension and a set of Michelins for less than $3K. |

MPPSK is a good option to consider since it will also be covered by warranty. About coilovers ... I personally feel that unless coilovers represent a substantial upgrade in capabilities over 704 suspension, i.e. fully adjustable dampening and rebound controls (as an example), MPPSK is a more reasonable option. |

I myself went MPPSK as soon as I could afford it and a high flow catted downpipe shortly after.
In my opinion regardless of which one you choose you'll be looking at what you didn't do none stop right after you finish. I thought I'd be set with mppsk but nope, I've been eyeing suspension mods for the last 6 months. I say go with whichever one you think you'll enjoy the most. Suspension if you think you'll actually be able to capitalize on the better handling ie track or you're really that aggressive on the streets. Mppsk if you're looking to smile like a maniac from the sound as you drive. As far as if mppsk is worth it. Personal preference. I did it bc I wanted warranty and guarantee of reliability and smoothness with no fuss or learning so I paid the premium for being lazy. It's also a pretty conservative exhaust in comfort mode with valves closed. Bonus is factory tune. Otherwise you'd have to go piggyback and I just want up for that yet for such a new engine. Good luck |

I always do wheels tires / suspension / brakes first. With this car .. the power level is sufficient but the driving dynamics are atrocious.
I don't get the mpk thing .. it's overpriced, and you need a catless dp to make any more, so there goes the warranty. Even the guy above, wanted the warranty, added a dp ... Lost the warranty. A car is faster for 3 months then you need more. So just go after market, get better parts for less money. Worst case you have to find/buy a used block/head and swap it in. I wouldn't want to be I/e/dp/jb4 on runcraps/horrible stock suspension/brakes. But I'm sure some kids do it that way... |

Tires. Always tires. What's the point of more power you can't put to the road? What's the point of going fast if you can't take a turn?

Continental Extreme Sports or Michelin Pilot Sport 4S would be worthwhile upgrades. Keep the RFTs for when you sell/return the car or in case of emergency. Get a tire patch kit from amazon and keep it in your trunk. Make sure your AAA is up to date and enjoy!!!

Yes. Tires make a world of a difference! But the extra noise is always nice. I would do tires and exhaust first. I don't really track my car so the suspension is sufficient.

I have run flats. They're not that bad but I am destroying them quickly so I can tell the wife they have worn out and I need to replace them.
But If you're the type a driver that notices the run flats and has the M passive suspension I am surprised that the Open differential is not mentioned. If I had the money, I would upgrade to the M limited slip differential rather than replace a perfectly good set of runflat tires. |
