Golf GTI - Best Price?

Hi all, any tips please on any recent deals on the GTI? Cash purchase likely unless there is silly great PCP on. Pretty certain the golf just went Mk7.5 so not a great time to look?

Thanks in advance.

Drive the deal usually have the best prices on Golfs. Run a quote. You end up dealing with the main dealer directly. Taking VW PCP usually gives you the best deal with VW's contribution. You can then pay this off within the 14 day cooling off period without any penalty.

Coast to coast have GTI performance with £5k discount.

Which is similar to what we saw before Christmas.

There is a little bit more discount on the R and a bit less on the standard GTI.

7.5 came out this time last year so there are plenty of deals available. They have appeared occasionally on hot cheap lease deals so you could be lucky and get on one of those if you don't want to tie up your cash. Advantage of that is that if residuals take a bit of a hit due to cheap lease deals and bigger discounts for PCP or cash buyers then you won't take a hit.

Great cars, had ours since Novemeber and it's classy yet sporty with s good turn of speed. The DSG box is lovely and let's you drive lazy or put it into sport for snappy changes and exhaust pops.

What spec and gearbox are you looking at ?

As above you will struggle to beat the Drive the Deal prices but dealers can be pushed to match or get close of they want sales. Can be a long wait for GTi unless you get a pipeline car. We order 1 July and got mid Nov.

Saw this when I was looking the other night -

Although unsure if it's a good deal or not.

That's a relatively decent deal for the current batch. Not as cheap as some deals back in April and July last year. Might be worth keeping an eye out for the first business day in April as if deals are going to hit that might be the time. Having said that there haven't been GTi deals for the last two quarters so that may mean they may or may not return.

I've been playing with the broadspeed website and they seem to have some good deals. A family member got the best deal on a new golf gti from coast 2coast recently.

Nice car but artificial sound when in sport mode was horrible.

Totally agree about sound in sport mode. Mine was delivered in sport mode and in the first few miles I thought they had given me a GTD!!!

Easily sorted though by using Individual mode or the unit can be unplugged completely.

Just over £5k on DtD as well.k

Some weird theft happening from them round here. Not the whole car, just the front end. A friend left his in a car park in the snow, went back the next day with snow socks to collect it and found it looking like this:

I've always liked the looks of the Mk 7 but never bitten the bullet as they're very ordinary to drive, bland even.
The journos love 'em, lots of 5 star reviews. I've never got it, having test driven the manual and the DSG. Pricey too.

Have you honestly tried a MK 7 or 7.5 Todmorden in GTI or R guise. I really can't say I think they are bland to drive, they have a very sweet balance of handling, grip and comfort with beautiful steering weight. They honestly handle much better than any of the BMWs I had and when you compare a Golf with a 1 Series the game is well and truely over in just a few minutes, the difference is night and day.

I know I may come over as a Golf fanboy but when we bought our first GTD MK 7 I was truely amazed with how good a car it was. If my only car was a GTI or an R I honestly could live very happily.

Yes, I have - honestly! Both cars were pre-facelift and had the performance pack option, one manual, one auto. Dealers were in Surrey and Kent, and the test of the manual was an extended one.
Maybe I was expecting too much, having read all the praise from the motoring journos.
I'm glad you enjoy your car. I still think its a great looking car but driving it left me underwhelmed.

I haven't driven an R, however have driven a GTI, pre facelift, was a good drive and very enjoyable but preferred the focus ST all day, and GTD's tend to be driven quite badly on the roads in my experience which put me off them.

GTDs used to be the company car specials so often driven by slick haired salesmen who thought they were driving some kind of super car given it was in their opinion such a flying machine. Not the 2 litre diesel heroes are all now in super cheap benefit in kind tax GTEs.
