Hi
Just as a public service announcement I recently looked up a part for my car from bmwfans.info using my chassis number and it transpires I'd got the wrong part number.
Lesson learnt here but be careful using these and ONLY use them as a guide and not as the definitive look up; I would recommend ALWAYS checking with the dealer.

Neither have I really. Part numbers have always been correct. What was wrong?

Would be odd if they are wrong as their info is just whatever is in the BMW database.

Weirdly when I look something up on my computer browser it gives incorrect pt. no. (the one for a newer car) but if I look it up on my phone it is incorrect (in this case it's a valve cover gasket)
