Springs for 340 xi?
I have the Adaptive M Suspension on my 2016 340 Xi. As we get closer to springtime, I am getting closer to finding the best, cost effective way to close the uncomfortable wheel gap that comes with these cars.
If I have my understanding correct, here is what I am thinking would work best without getting a negative rake look or having the car look slammed. ACS Springs Dinan Bumpstops Sinan Shockware I want to go with the ACS Springs as I understand that I will get a slightly lower drop over Dinan and not have the rake look. Is this the best way to go, without getting into coilovers? Thanks,

Did you make a decision on this? I am a new owner of a 2015 335xi F30 and also looking to lower the car and retain my adaptive suspension. I've narrowed it down to either ACS or Dinan. Not sure what to do about bumpstops and shockware though.

I'm at the same point.... i've heard not to buy the dinan bumpstop as you can order them from BMW as an OEM parts and cost way less.

Let me know what you all decide. What is the drop going to look like? Anyone have pics out there?
I have 20in HREs and looking to drop about 1.25 in front and 1in in back.. not looking for much just reduce wheel gaps. |

I think you'll have a "reverse rake" with the ACS too:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1012286&page=3 The fronts have a larger wheel arch gap than the rears.

Are you saying these parts fit on the F30 as upgraded bumpstops?

I ended up going with eibach springs because of the rear rake problem all other springs have. .8f and .4r I also changed up the tires and rims and went with a 234/40/19 and 265/35/19 which again gave me more tire and less gap. Greatest decision I made and absolutely no bottoming out on my f32 xdrive m adaptive susp. It's pretty much just 5 to 10 percent more stiff and that's it!

Did you go with the non-xdrive spring as I heard that gives the x-drives a better drop? |

I went with the xdrive spring, I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone using the springs for the rwd. Again the tires made a huge difference as well. I think I got 1.3 inch front and .75 r total with tire and spring eliminated from the gap.
From stock 442 m rim and rubber. |

The adaptive dampers have different bump stops than the regular/704 suspensions. If you look at the pictures on ECS' site, it looks like the bump stops that come with the adaptive suspension are already shorter. I wonder if new bump stops are really needed if you have the adaptive suspension.
It's interesting comparing the Eibach and ACS springs. For my F31 the specs for the front springs look almost identical (unsprung height, coil diameter, wire diameter), but the max axle load ratings are a bit different (ACS is 10kg more). On the rear springs, the ACS rear spring specs match with the Eibach F34/3GT rear spring (unsprung height, coil diameter, wire diameter, max axle load, and max extended load). The Eibach F31 spring has 5kg higher axle rating, but less extended load. Last edited by FaRKle!; 04-10-2018 at 11:46 PM.. |

I had previously decided ACS or Dinan, but now I'm starting to think about the eibachs. Ugh, decisions! I pretty much want to make the car about RWD height or a hair lower. I'm pretty content with the factory XI springs and adaptive dampers as far as ride quality. I'd like to retain my adaptive dampers and supple ride, but close the monster truck wheel gap going on. Car will never be tracked and is my commuter car. I have a weekend toy that is on firm springs already for spirited driving.
My current reservation about the spring options: ACS - reverse rake issues. Dinan - might be a bit firm riding. Eibach - might not be low enough to get rid of the wheel gap. H&R - worry me about blowing my adaptive dampers and harsh ride. Any other springs for XI's worth considering? Last edited by strobe89; 04-16-2018 at 08:57 AM.. |
