Well the quality of that picture is pretty awful so I will not judge the color, however, why would they ship matte painted cars uncovered?

BMW ships there cars with a very heavy coating of wax that's sprayed over the paint. For a lot of vehicles they do this in place of shipping tape. Then when the car reaches port and goes through VPC (or whatever it's called) they steam off the wax, collect it, and reuse it.

There's a video on this process from about 10 years ago or so (I remember watching it from a few years ago). Also there's a national geographic documentary on one of the car carriers (wallenius I think), also from about 10 years ago, and all of the BMWs that you can see have this thick coating of wax.

Anyways, not a huge fan of matte paints, but seeing the cars like this definitely do not do them justice.

To each's own,...but there is no way I'd invest a ton of money into a car,..and the paint didn't cast tons of "light bursts" from the Sun's rays bouncing off of it!

Donington or Singapore Grey all the way!

Isn't this the NFS launch color? If so, there are plenty of better quality photos if anyone wants to see the color.

btw, is the silver car at the bottom level an M5 too?

cosmoline was just such an item and it was used for many years... I am sure there is a higher grade version likely being used today...

http://www.cosmolinedirect.com/cosmo...ustrial-grade/

This Industrial Grade Cosmoline provides long-term, Indoor/Outdoor protection for steel, iron and metals against rust & corrosion.
•Protects your investment in inventoried parts for years.
•Dries quickly, yielding a transparent, amber, durable wax coating.
Protects metals from high humidity, salt spray, salt air, and extreme weathering.
Exceptional vehicle undercoating. Protects against salts, calcium and sodium chloride, pesticides, de-icing chemicals, fertilizers and more.
•Surface Coverage = approx. 400 square feet/gal at 2.0 mil-thickness
•Vastly easier to remove than older formulations.
•Protects indoors for 36+ months. Protects outdoors for 18+ months.
•Will maintain protective coating integrity between -40°F to 180°F.
Can be applied by spray, dip, or brush. (see additional spray-related notes in "Shop Talk" section below)
•Easily removed with mineral spirits, paint thinner, Cosmoline Remover or any other over-the-counter petroleum solvent.
Can be cut/thinned as desired with solvent or thinner.

I'm sure that any of you frozen red bashers were given the keys to drive for a week zero down, doubt you would all be complaining then. Good for BMW if the market supports these limited edition models. Who knows if the F80 will have a last edition in frozen red?

i saw the f90 the other day ans honestly its not as nice as the f10 overall. im not biased i wouldnt say that without reason. the m5 being as big as it is shouldnt have some of those realllly sporty lines. what it looks like to me is that they took the f10 and then threw on some f80 m3 styling. its a good looking car ya inside and out but i just think the f10 has a more m5 look to it. i dont see many f10 owners going from f10 to f90 just cuz of how similar they are. for more than double the price youd have to be a dam fool to get the f90...if youre already spending that kind of money you might aswell get something different (really the samidh car overall) like the e63s.
